GrumbleDook Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 I am after recommendations on a wall mounted speaker I can stick in classrooms next to the whiteboards so the can hook up computers / videos etc ... Ideally a single box with a built in amp that allows for 2 stereo inputs (one from computer and one from video/dvd) Any advice appreciated ...

GrumbleDook Posted September 28, 2005 Author Posted September 28, 2005 Isn't that classed as electrical tony? ;) hehe Nath Strange you should mention that .... sad git that I am I had thought about that previously in case any one asked (partly after having to blag my way out of having to recable a complete sound system for a school hall) If the leads are premaid, do not have to be laid next to or near infrastructure electrical cabling, involve any activities that cannot be done during a normal school day due to health and safety reasons then I would consider it .... (note the word consider ... it is not a yes ... and is a magic get out clause!) Anyone would think that we are a pessimistic bunch that like to prepare for the worst. Like I said ... I'm a sad git.

"Technical Support ... Mr Strap? no ... we have no Mr Strap working here ... Jock? oh ... Jock Strap ... testicle support ... very good ..." Thank heavens for Jeb Jobs .... brings a smile to my face everytime I think of it.
joe90bass Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Dragging up an old thread here.......... Are people still using the Edirol MA 7A's? If so are the cables long enough to run down the side of the board plug into a PC? I've just been told that we have to take down our current 5.1 setups and reinstall them in our new school. That's one heck of a big job for two of us to do on top of setting up 400 PCs/thin clients and 7 servers in a 5 week stretch in the summer hols. If I can get these and just put up two brackets it'll be a godsend!! Not mentioning the difficulties of getting approval to put up 5.1 speakers including trunking, brackets and a shelf for the sub by the PFI company..... Cheers

Vision AV-1301 Stereo AMP & SP-1300 Speaker *PAIR* - Misco.co.uk OK there's a seperate amp so it's not as neat as some, but as most of our classrooms have a shelf for DVD player/video player already it doesn't pose a problem. Also it has 4 imputs so you can wire all the items in permanetly without swapping cables around, and it has 'PC' and 'DVD' marked on the selector dial so staff can't forget what to select for the devices connected! Also comes with all necessary leads, speaker cable and mounting brackets for speakers and has 2 mic inputs as well. Really versatile and loud enough for any classroom. Mike. 2

They aren't cheap mind! Nuvo wall AMP & Speakers - Misco.co.uk We use these in Languages. Fitted the amp and PSU inside existing trunking to make a very neat job. Sound quality isn't as good as the Eridols which we have in Music but quite adequate for general use. 1

The speakers are really easy to mount, and come with a bracket that enables them to be tilted downwards, making even coverage across a classroom simple. No complaints about quality and several inputs so PC, DVD & VCR not a problem. (Note to self, they've been in a year; really must get 'round to labelling them!) No need for any more (and yes, I did just want to play with the new smillies)
SeanVin Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 We use these Sahara Presentation Systems > Wall Mounted Active Speakers they have a built in amp, wall brackets and 2 inputs - we connect one to the IWB PC and the other to the face plate for Video players or staff laptops. There is a long fly lead connected to small on/off switch and volume control.

Elemtech Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Becta are keen for schools to look at using Classroom Amplification systems in schools. They give even sound across the room (teacher doesnt have to shout & strain their voice) so all children can hear. It has been proven to improve results in the US.
