Sahara projector problem

Got a Sahara AV2107 which has started projecting an aspect ratio of 1:1 (with the edges of the projected images missing) rather than the standard 4:3 after someone "fiddled" with it!!

 

Have tried resetting (including factory reset) without success. Any ideas or is it a new lamp (£sillymoney) time?

Not sure if this is quite the answer to your problem, but I have found when I have this problem of the projected image being 'cut off' its that the computer res has been changed and needs to go back to 800 x 600

 

Have you tried chaning the res?

Likewise, the problem may be on the computer and not the projector. The Sahara we have (AV2100) loses the image at the edges if the screen resolution is set too high. As Paul suggested, try lowering the screen resolution.

Yes, one of the first things I tried. The "fiddler" had set the aspect ratio to 16:9. When I set it back to 4:3 it turned to 1:1!!!! I then did a factory reset but it remains at 1:1. Have also tried different laptop in case the fault was with the onboard video.

 

Bloody nuisance balancing on a table trying to alter settings on an upside-down projector whilst looking at the screen over my shoulder!!! (remote long since went AWOL )

With regards to the remote if you still have another similar remote in the school you could buy a programable one from aldi and use the one you have to program it and thats about £20.

 

I have had the same problem in one of the schools a few weeks ago and found it was one of the settings on the projector in the setup But I am really sorry I dont remeber whick one off the top of my head sorry. Have a play and I am sure you will find it.

Came in this morning and decided to have one last try before replacing bulb etc. Switched projector on and ............. it works perfectly!!! 8O 8O 8O

 

I assume that leaving it unpowered for a long period has reset whatever it was that was causing the problem. I had switched it off last week but only for a couple of minutes at a time. Nothing in the documentation or website about this!!

 

Ah well .......... these things are sent to try us!!!

just thought i'd post my opinion of sahara here, so that any one wanting to buy one may think again.

 

We have had to send one back. Went to a firm called Accurate AV. They couldn't fix it and so had to send it to china.

They don't make the cases any more for oolder Saharas, only the guts.

They sent us a projector back that had been refurbished in china. When it came back it had security markings for another school on it and the standoffs were brocken.

 

We sent that back, 3 months later still haven't got ours back.

 

Sahara warrenty there projectors for 3 yrs. the company that actually builds them for Sahara only warrenties for 2yrs.

 

After the whole balls up with this, we will not be buying any more Saharas.

How do you do a factory reset?

Sahara's aren't the best projectors in the world. We have a lot of the original Protectors. Many problems with them, support for us has been good, but they have all been under warranty. We usualy have one projector out with Delta in a given week.

 

AccurateAV are the only AV company to have never let us down.
