well done i had nightmares when i gave up also lol but none as funny as yours :) lol

hmm funny NOT imagine your ex standing with a 8 inch chefs knife at the bottom of your bed looking at you and the worse part being shes smoking a fag and you just want to ask her to give you a few puffs lol

Just think, in just under 6 months you will be able to call yourself a non-smoker!

In just under 12 months your efforts will be rewarded as you are classed as a non-smoker for life insurance purposes and you should see a massive drop in your premium.

Well done keep it up.

Why not tweet about it? That way if you are feeling weak you can let your followers know and they can tweet back advice.

I quit nearly four years ago...

During my brother's 21st Birthday night out I got through 20 ciggys, woke up the next day and felt like :censored:, so decided to give up. I used the chewing gum (which tastes vile - or atleast did) and have not had a smoke since.

I stopped using the gum around six weeks after starting and dont regret it one bit!

My bank balance improved so much I was able to afford a much better car (that does not smell of soggy ashtrays) and I have a much better of quality of life.

Don't get me wrong though, you are more than likely going to continue craving for some time - depending on where you are and who you're with. The normal thing for me when I'm craving is too have another beer lol or the more usually repeat to myself 'Look at how well you have done, would you really like to go back to coughing so much it feels like your lungs are about to come out your mouth and generally feeling like :censored: everyday??' That usually works for me :)

Either way you should be proud of everytime you dont have a smoke, and remember, little steps are much better than one big one! :)

My 2p worth :)

I wonder if the craving thing is genetic or learned? Both my Dad & Grandad were heavy smokers, but just it up without any moaning that I noticed. I used to smoke quite a lot - but don't bother for it now - can even have a cig if I fancy and not bother again for months & months....Chocolate though...thats a different story....

20 in a night out? I used to smoke that on my dinner break! 60 for me in a night out before the smoking ban - £15 gone in a crack! :(

That was a lot for me! My sizeable lungs obviously were not as 'bedded' in as yours lol :) still I've quit and hapy for it, more to the point these sort of conversations are probably not helping TopBanana much ;)

Slightly off topic, and not much help to TB, but when I stopped smoking 'proper' cigs and went onto rollies I felt my health increase 10 fold. I think there's something like 2000 more chemicals in 'proper' cigs than in rollies.

Well Day 3 in the non smoking arena!

Going strong no nightmares last night due to the lack nicotine soaked plastic on my arm, todays feeling really good starting to taste food differently which is a bonus but still going through 3 packs of gum a day and masses of boiled sweets thank god for mint humbugs lol :p

On electronic cigs myself.

Much better for you, much cheaper, and can "smoke" them inside legally. :)

Been off "analog" cig's for over a year now

Edit for link :

whats the health risks lol ?

Not sure if you watched the video. The vapour you inhale is the same stuff from smoke machines in clubs, IE water vapour

the flavouring is food flavouring

and you can get various strengths of nicotine, from 0mg up to 32mg I think. (nicotine is still a carcinogenic but you are cutting out a lot of additional ones from smoking)

When I tried quit i missed the throat "hit" you get when you inhale smoke, and this delivers it. The NHS inhaler sticks contain the same nicotine but without the water vapour and flavour.

Totally wicked's liquids are made in the UK under regs as well :)

well guys day 5 of non-smoking and I'm still going strong although with major jaw ache from all the gum I've been going through lol, one of the main things I have noticed is a increase in energy levels and motivation which is obviously a benefit lol,

So things are looking good so far, this week I am still on the highest dose of patches but next week I am going to drop down a level and see how that feels!

If you need motivation, just look around and you'll see hardly anybody smokes any more. My dad is an ex punk who started at 9 and even he's been off them for 8 years.

Smokers are a dying breed. I'd rather stop on my own saying than stop because the government bans it (which is coming!)

I gave up smoking about 6 years ago.. Used the aforementioned Allen Carr Easy Way book, and it worked a treat for me. I didnt have physical cravings, I just found it hard breaking the routine.. Started eating a packet of crisps in the place of a ciggy, and im still trying to shift the excess weight that put on now!

Didnt notice any more money in my pocket at the end of any week either..

But I i still occassionally have a bad dream, and in the dream Im smoking, and i wake up coughing, but then glad to know im only dreaming!

One of the worst/(best?) parts of quitting is when your lungs start to clear themselves, and you go through a massive stage of coughing up a whole load of crap.

I got told by a doctor that if you stop smoking before your 21 your body has enough time to recover, and by the time you are 40 your lungs will be the same as that of a 40 yr old who never smoked. I stopped the day of my 21st bday, (having smoked daily since about 14) so maybe that was just mine regenerating? :p

Well according to the NHS site, after 15 years you have as much chance of a heart attack as a non smoker.
