I've received an email from the United Nations no less - it's got a picture of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon no less, so it must be true.

I'm getting US$500,000!

I must find time to send off for that form!

(seriously, does anyone actually fall for a scam like this!)

oh please, when you get the money can i have some? I'm a REELLY deserving cause - lots of children, dogs, piggies and rabbits to support, old relations as well, whilst living in a small paper bag and working 56 hours a day.....

:)

er..'scammed and war victims'???????

Despite the fact it was sent to Elsiegee, I've replied on her behalf and think we should split the money three ways. I've also advised the sender of the correct use of 'there' and 'their'.

I'm loathe to mention this at school... they might want me to pay for the new printer we need... * wonders * "shall I bother going in at all tomorrow?"

@chrbb; I'll agree to a 3 way split. There's plenty for all of us and totally approve of your pedantry! :D

We're got ofsted tomorrow and wednesday, so I'd welcome my share of the money to plant a forest somewhere to replace all the paper that the teachers have printed in the past few days.

It MUST be REAL, as it uses CAPITAL letters to EMPHASISE words that it seems to think are IMPORTANT :bowl:

or people who are having financial difficulties.

Surely if they fall for this kind of scam, that's one of the reason they are having financial difficulties

Flattery will get you everywhere, you charmer you! :D

As long as you and Witch don't think I'm just after your cash, I am independantly wealthy - well not quite yet but as soon as the funds from my Nigerian Princess friend, Spanish Lottery win and Income Tax refund all clear...

We are THE tripletgeek. Collectively. Each one can describe herself as such as we are one and the same.

:)

* and how are there 2 geekettes? Is it that one of us isnt a geekette (more a geektrout, perhaps?) or can he just not count?

I always thought a group of geeks was referred to as a 'pondering' (or maybe even a 'swearing')???

Given that one of my fellow triplets is witch, perhaps a coven would be more appropriate! :D

I had a similar thing lastnight when I got in from work. "BT" phoned me and said that there had been a reduction in line rental so please could I give them my account details. I asked why? because apparently they were sales people and did not have my bank details to hand and needed them to process the change. Got a bit shirty when I laughed and said no way. Came from an indean call centre just like it would from BT. I could imagin some older people and people not used to BT's normal ways being caught by this.

OH took a call on Friday regarding a problem with our subscription to Premier Sports. OH is the Luton Town supporter and has subscribed to see Blue Square matches - that's a problem in itself :D.

Someone foreign wanted OH to give him his credit card details over the phone. OH refused on the grounds that he had no evidence that this call was genuine and requested notification by letter; foreign person got quite annoyed with him, but gave in eventually and rang off.

To our surprise, we did get a letter explaining the problem and we've now called them on their regular call centre number and sorted it out. It seems the call was genuine. I still think OH was right to stand his ground though.
