Carter Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Here is a snapshot of my Apple/Macintosh Computers & Device collection that I've been collecting for a while now. It's all in our Tech Office. Hi Res @ http://i.imgur.com/61FEo.jpg http://i.imgur.com/61FEo.jpg
torledo Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 what's that flip-out thing to the right [as we look] of the newton ?
Carter Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 what's that flip-out thing to the right [as we look] of the newton ? lol, I get questioned the most on that one It's a calculator/calendar. I got that about five years ago at an Apple conference someone around here.
rad Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 one question - do they all work are they all bust?
mac_shinobi Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 The mac pro on the right hand side and the slim line iMacs look good - whats happening with them ? Also do they work or are they fixable ?
localzuk Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 No Cube? The 2 which flopped the most - the cube and the mac on a stick (which you do have) are my favourite designs by far.

The mac pro on the right hand side and the slim line iMacs look good - whats happening with them ? Also do they work or are they fixable ? The majority of the computers still work, but higher ones like the MacPro, G5, iMacs have logic board issues which is why they have gone to the collection. The Classic computers still boot and even have Office on them. No Cube? The 2 which flopped the most - the cube and the mac on a stick (which you do have) are my favourite designs by far. "stick" which I do have? ... what computer is considered a stick?
localzuk Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 "stick" which I do have? ... what computer is considered a stick? Computer on a stick - the G4 blob with monitor attached via adjustable stand. aka, computer on a stick
Carter Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 Computer on a stick - the G4 blob with monitor attached via adjustable stand. aka, computer on a stick oh the lamp lol .... I think this was the best model they ever had. I've been saying it for the logest time! Apple needs to take the Mac Mini and redesign a new lamp. I still see these in use. They have a moveable neck/screen that no other Mac had. I have a MacMini Server at home but if I had an extra one I'd mod it to fit into a Mac Lamp
torledo Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 For me, it would have to be the 17 inch screen 'lamp' model to be worth keeping....the 15 inch screen just didn't have the same impact with that design in my view.
GrumbleDook Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 *sigh* No fair ... can I come and visit? I have 8 machines now (all working) but the oldest are my two SE/30s ... I just need to pick up replacement keyboards and mice having donated mine to a friend last year. As for the lamp. I love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9UymhuCffE
mattx Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) That's quite a large collection of complete and utter junk you have there !! Can I suggest you stick it on a bonfire come Nov 5th which is the best place for all of Apple's products. http://www.pursuingsuccess.net/wp-content/uploads/dead-time-capsule.jpg Edited September 29, 2010 by mattx 4

I see my fair share of PC & Mac hardware issues so non is above the other ... I just prefer Apple Hardware & Software.
CESIL Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 A Mac hatter I take it? Or a Mad Hater? I am and have always been a PC user...I just wish they made them look as good as Macs...
Little-Miss Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Wow..... im not a MAC hater as i have never used one long enough to hate them... but, that collection is kinda...... scary!!! lol But hey whatever makes you happy!! 1

Kinda ruined by over-use on hip/cool US TV shows though.

There was the obligatory 'guess the mac build/spec' on Buffy and Angel too ... that was always a fun one. The Wall St PowerBook was popular for a while, as was the PB G3 'bronze keyboard' and then the iBooks ... It is always fun in the UK to spot the Apple and Dell kit that many shows try to cover up to abide by product placement rules.
localzuk Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 It is always fun in the UK to spot the Apple and Dell kit that many shows try to cover up to abide by product placement rules. Like the Apple laptops on Chuck, which have a Nerd Herd sticker over the Apple logo on the lid.
3s-gtech Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Oooh an MDD PowerMac G4, I bought one recently on Ebay. Still a good computer, especially with 10.5 on it. Not found a standard PC part that hasn't worked straight off in it (RAM, DVD burner, USB PCI card, imaged HDD).
arwen Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I've wanted a 'Lamp' (or Noddy as we called them) for ages now. Really like a design :-) Unfortunatly I couldnt give ones a new home when the schools were getting refereshed, they all when to other schools

tech_guy Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I've always hated the rampant, raging fanboyism that accompanies Apple products but as the proud owner of an iPad I must confess to becoming a bit of a convert. It's about the only decent thing Apple have produced. Brilliant bit of kit. (Sorry Matt)
