Logon locally on CC4 SR1? - RM n00b back again - Sorry!

I have a computer that won't logon to the domain so I want to login locally so that I can disjoin and then rejoin it to the domain. But with this horrible logon UI, I can't get it to log on locally. Am I missing something obvious?

In the top right of the screen it says class1.XP Professional, but when I put in class1\administrator it won't login.

Also, I know that this problem will disapear when it's updated to SR2, but I'm trying to get the network usable before it gets updated, because I don't think the school will be able to take the network off or give us the hours to run the update before half term.

Unassign the RM Gina from that machine. (And all the others if you want to save the headache!)

You can also use the following registry frag:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]

"DefaultDomainName"="Required Domain"

"GinaDll"="msgina.dll"

Then you'll get the regular XP logon boxes and be able to logon locally.

That's a really useful tip. Thanks. I wondered why some of the schools still on SR1 didn't have this GINA thing on them. Very confusing. I wish they'd either cover it on the course or just leave stuff alone!

Does CC4 even leave the local Administrator account enabled? On CC3 it was always disabled.

Yes, it does.

No worries. The RM Gina was a pain in the rear. So glad it's gone!
