Spent all day in one school yesterday due to huge wireless issues (usually split time between both my schools)

Meanwhile, in my other school, an outside tech was upgrading my server to 2008R2 and making an image from my new shiny W7 machine, putting it on the server and deploying it to all 33 new machines in IT suite (just not enough time for me to do it before the end of term so they decided to pay someone else)

This morning, had a phone call to say that no one ANYWHERE in the school can log on!!

Oh dear, how sad, never mind

Not my problem

And it is my birthday...

:lalala::dance:

(of course I will go and help sort it out when I get over there in an hour or so - but it is so good to have a problem to solve that NO ONE CAN BLAME ME FOR!:)

I would also seek compensation through this outside organisation you hired. If they were paid to do a job and they haven't completed it to a satisfactory level (and people not being able to logon is unsatisfactory to me!) then there should be penalty clauses.

Saying that, we had penalty clauses built in with our ISP but I'm sure they were along the lines of:

SCENARIO: Internet goes down for more than 2 hours

PENALTY: The school is penalised by having to go without the internet for more than 2 hours.

SCENARIO: A logged job is not dealt with in the given timescale

PENALTY: The school has to wait longer for us to get off our lazy backsides to complete logged job.

Yup, call the guy back in. Working + contractor did work + now not working = contractor needs to prove he didn't break it.

And if he hasn't documented what he did, make him do so.

if theyve been imaged theyre probably trying to log onto the local machine rather than the domain

Very true! I do try to remember to log on and off the domain if I've been working on the local machine... if I forget nobody else seems capable of clicking that drop-down box to do it themselves.
