Rydra Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I started assisting with the school's football team/training last week, and then played a friendly against another school's teaching staff. Managed to ruin my knee, took me 3 days to be able to walk properly again, either a twist or sprain I think. This morning i can feel it twinging again. So how long will it last with a 1 hour football training tonight!??!
aerospacemango Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Yep....you'll be fine! However, I must insist that you do not take my words as any sort of medical advice! I am not a Doctor! I'm an ICT tech!!! My knee twinges most days, but I can still bowl 10 overs straight through on a Sunday!!!
Mcshammer_dj Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 did you knacker it last time by being tackled by Emile Heskey?
Rydra Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 Where's the "Stop being such a wimp" option? I lef that behind at the weekend, just after the match where i tried to walk upstairs to get changed, and collapsed But i thought "You'll be fine! Get going soldier!" fitted this description
Rydra Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 did you knacker it last time by being tackled by Emile Heskey? Miscellaneous teacher #51 from the other team caught me in a tackle, and knee tried to bend at right angles to the way it should do. Heskey wouldn't be able to keep up with me, he runs out of energy by the time he reaches top speed
3s-gtech Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 did it swell up at all? ^^ Did it swell up at the top of the shin/on the patella tendon?
Rydra Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 No, it's the back of the knee, the tendon-y bit on the back. Though if my knee keeps clicking tonight I'll start to wonder who swapped my knee cap for castinettes!
ICT_GUY Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Your knees need to last until your 50's because you won't get them replaced before then on the NHS.
Rydra Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 Your knees need to last until your 50's because you won't get them replaced before then on the NHS. There's always ebay...
krisd32 Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Just make sure you go for a gentle jog then stretch before doing any serious running. and stretch after playing as well. always helped me when playing.
Disease Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I am waiting to go in for a double knee op in 3 weeks
Rydra Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 I am waiting to go in for a double knee op in 3 weeks Is that where they make it so you can walk backwards? (Only messing, hope all goes well!)
krisd32 Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I've just had a knee op 5 - 6 weeks ago wasn't the most fun experience being completely none weight bearing on my left leg for a month.
Rydra Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 I've just had a knee op 5 - 6 weeks ago wasn't the most fun experience being completely none weight bearing on my left leg for a month. Though I can see how it could be really annoying, A month stuck at home being waited on every night by the wife does have a certain appeal. I couldn't work where I am now with that sort of layup, I cannot actually stretch my legs out without kicking the wall (office is not even 6ft by 4ft!)
Rydra Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 The answer is: none of the above. I'm not allowed to help with the club. See BTRD for more info and a proper rant.
