The official lists of who registered an interest are here: DfE Academies - Registering Interest

Alternatively you can see my handy reworking of their lists - sorted by LA

The two lists are "Outstanding schools eligible to convert"

and "not outstanding schools which will have to wait"

Please remember that a school that has expressed an interest has done so to find out more. Application to convert will require a separate FoI request to find out who has actually bitten the bullet!

Interesting we're not listed but in the outstanding list but I was told that we'd registered our interested. I suspect our school sent a letter and didn't bother to check the website :p

Interesting, a few school on the "outstanding list" are actually pretty bad and did quite badly in latest OFSTED, but a school on the "not outstanding" list got an outstanding in recent OFSTED.

thats just for my area anyway.

The DfE got a freedom of information request to which they have responded - so i suppose it could be out of date. The original lists on their website look like they're in order of application.

Remember, just because your school is on the list, it does not mean they have applied to convert. This is just the "expression of interest" list which is the only way to get detailed info from the DfE

The primary school that's about 300 metres from my main site is on there, cool. A few in this town and a few in my home town, too, but not as many as other places. Thank you for posting this :)

Very interesting lists, very few in my county to say were huge! I see my old school I used to work at is on the second list which I think is a good move :) I would have hoped to have seen mine on the second list as well but hey ho :( A couple of local primary's in our cluster are on it though which is a bit concerning with some local issues at present.

We have 10 on the first and 18 on the second ... so about 8.5% of our schools applied.

How's it gonna affect the funding for LEA provided services do you reckon? With the 25% drop in Harnessing Technology grant too, the finances have gotta be looking a bit bleak at the moment for some LEAs?

Seem to me it's the only way you might get much information on the pros, although possibly not so much on the cons, so it would be a bit negligent not to "express an interest" (proceeding with it is another matter)

[i've just spotted a duplicate - definitely the same school, slightly different variation on the name]

We are school agnostic and already provide services to Academies at their choice. The HT Grant is hitting lots of people but we are working on making sure we still deliver the same level of services the schools want. Remember that the HT Grant was also to cover Academies ... since we (as an LA) retained the whole grant and we provided services to Academies too. One group was happy, one wasn't and continued to use their own procured services (originally as a sole CTC) as they took on two other schools they have moved away from LA services ... their choice.

Since the HT grant has been used and devolved in so many different ways (as I have said in other threads) I honestly cannot say what it will mean to other LAs.

We have another school becoming an Academy anyway this year (already planned) and they too are sticking with EMBC and we, as a team, are happy to still work with them. I can't really say much more at the moment as we are also looking at how we structure things.

not on the list even tho outstanding, we're supposed to be going for that other thing not as extreme as academies, I forget the name of it, partnership?

Our last ofsted was good with outstanding features, we are on the 2nd list.

We were very aware even before the election that our head was in favour of independent from LA schools as he had signed the letter from heads that appeared in the papers (although I dont think anyone signing it expected it to be made so public)

We've been assured that there is no intention to change terms of staff contracts, although there have been some concerns how being independent from the local authority will effect support staff pensions as surely they'll no longer be employed by the local authority and won't be able to pay into LA schemes?

Well the order of outstanding list is very odd you have two schools and then in la order till halfway down then random.

Anyway of course the list order brought us much amusement here for obvious reasons...

Transformational change?

I've been corelating ofsted status against my impression of the technical quality of their IT system in a few cases where I could.

Short answer: It doesn't correlate, which is interesting if a bit "off-message".
