When I worked in education IT I was working at my school part time after the teaching day had finished. I generally did two hours at the most each day. I felt I got quite a bit done in the short time because most of computers were free and the staff had time to explain the problem and show it to me if needs be. Most of the time I was dealing with the small bits such as changing toners, plugging things in (yes really!), cleaning projectors, and other such tasks. Generally I just looked at our help desk database and did the tasks that I knew I could do given the time and my skills. So my point is, I think it would be beneficial if the tech had hours outside of teaching time to maximise productivity otherwise they may spend half the time trying to do things but staff/computers not being free.

Local university? Back when I did mine I think a few people went to the local universities.

I managed to get a class of A-Level Business students to do this. You can have these new computers before end of term as long as you move ol;d ones out of the way and un-box the news one. Result was 35 new computers on desk ready for imaging.

Does this mean that all RaspberryPIs will fail their PAT tests as they have no case? I know its slighlty different because of the voltages but surely its the same principle.

I'm 20 now but got my Ford Ka when I was 19. It cost me £1700 a year to insure 3rd party fire and theft with me as main driver and my parents on as named drivers. Had it just over a year now, quite a nice little car - quite responsive at low speeds with just me in it and can get about 39-49mpg out of it.

Glad she's ok. My Grandad suffered from strokes, but before this ad campaign,even though he had them, I'd have never have known how to spot one. I think the campaign from the NHS is great.

I think it will be 70p not £70.

I have two printers at the moment - a colour HP Inkjet multifunction and a Samsung ML2010. My sister will just print anything out, like direction wheras I just get a piece of scrap paper and write them down. Most printing I do is done at uni for free.

My car! To be precise my 2002 '51' Ford Ka 1.3. Its given me so much more freedom to go where I like, when I like so I can spend more time where I want to be rather than waiting for/on public transport. Its also enabled to get a job I wouldn't otherwise have been able to do which is good as its also a huge drain on my wallet.

I think your right witch about them being a fashion trend and they could be gone tomorrow. Although they have stores they are franchises I believe (overhead someone in shop telling a customer that) so it would be quite easy for them to suddenly stop trading. Whoever owns Pandora must be extremely wealthy because I got a silver charm with some kind of stone for my girlfriend yesterday which cost £35 but its the smallest thing ever!

I say it S-Cone. I live in near Leeds and have done most of my life but parents are from Middlesbrough(though he lived in East Yorkshire for a while) and East Yorkshire. They both say it the same as me. My girlfriend has lived in Leeds area all of her life and says S-Gon. Now we are talking about scones, does anyone have one that I can eat?

I'm currently at Uni studying Computing for Business (not quite Computer Science but close) and at times I think 'Will I ever use this in the real world?' Even someone senior in my department admitted that the Computer Science degree isn't very relevant in industry and is more suited for research/academic purposes. To combat this they have an IT degree which looks more relevant to industry. In terms of teaching programming, in my 1st year we had the best lecturer for teaching Python programming, taught it in a very clear and understandable way.

I am currently in my second year of study of a Computing for Business degree at the University of Leeds and have the option to complete a year in industry staring in July-September 2011. Having worked part time for two years in IT support at a High School prior to going to university, I am keen to back to this industry as I enjoyed the work. Students at the University of Leeds are to be given iPhones for part of their course so they can access online resources and stay in contact when they are at hospitals etc. BBC News - University gives students text books on iPhones

I currently have a 1.3 Ka which has 60bhp. While its fine with 1 person in it around Leeds and general driving its plenty powerful. As soon as you get to the mway or a dual carrigeway its less good. It does get to 70, it just takes some time. Where it really struugles through is hills on the motorway and overrtaking. I live near the M62 which is a very hilly motorway and I'm often flat out going up the hills just trying too keep 70. While I love it for my daily commute to uni, I begin to like it less when I take it on the motorway which I do fairly regularly. When I next change my car then I will look for something a bit more powerful but not loads more powerful (or bigger).

In my opinion its madness and would be quite hard to enforce ... unless they fit trackers to everyones cars! The problem isn't the young drivers driving at night, its the fact they haven't been taught how to do it.

I've had a Samsung at home for almost 3 years now. It has great picture quality and works perfectly. Samsung do a 19" monitor for about £115 which is height adjustable, well so the description says - Samsung 943B

We have some of the adjustible bucket chairs in some suites which seem more resistant. In some other suites we managed to get normal computer chairs either free or cheap from an office clearout.

19 - first job in IT at 16, now on a 3/4 year degree course on Computing for Business.
