  1. 1. What should I do?

    • You're a geek - GO ANDROID! Get the DESIRE!
    • You're a sad man - GO APPLE. Buy an iPhone!
    • You're just old and sad!

I'm getting a Galaxy S. Massive screen with awesome performance. It has loads of cool stuff too, like Allshare which is a DLNA app to stream to and from compatible devices, as well as acting as a bridge. Codec support includes DivX and h.264.

My sons gf has one and it does look very good. Seems a bit on the chunky side though. (The phone, not his gf :) )

PEO, which IPhone 3G have you got?

I've just stuck my 16gb one on Mazuma and they're giving me £183 for it!

Definitely worth looking at :-)

Really!! that's more than what I expected. I have the 16gb iphone 3g. still, I think Mazzuma will probs not pay out as much once the iphone 4 is well established

I'd definitly get Android, but if you can hang on just a few more weeks, it looks like some fantastic new phones are on the way out...

Which phones are you referring to?

Do something interesting and get a non-Google, non-Apple phone. There're plenty out there.

Otherwise you're just playing into the hands of the Great Lizard Conspiracy!

I had an 8GB 3G with a completely smashed screen, and in general tatty condition - it sold for £186 on ebay.

Doesn't Dos_box have one?

I've never owned either but I hate the control apple has over its products, so they're automatically off the table. I refuse to own an i-anything.

Bought an iPod 12 months ago, bought a Milestone 6 months ago, haven't used the iPod since. I find the Android approach more flexible and slicker, you can have a load of icons spread across loads of home screens if you want or you can have a mix of shortcuts, widgets and other stuff. There are even iPod / Phone themes about for Android if you're that sad, mind you, there are WiMo7 themes as well.

Android 2.2 has native tethering and portable wifi hotspot feature. Used it last night for the first time and it works flawlessly.

It's a phone, a tool. Do you buy designer hammers?

Having said that I have considered a Nexus and may get one at some point, but not because it makes me a member of some exclusive little club. That attitude, if anything, puts me off buying one.

Not a great analogy. What type of hammer, Rubber? Sledge? Claw...... Try buying a hammer that does all of those.

I'd list the things my Android does, other than make a phone call occasionally, but don't have the time. It may be called a phone but that is probably 5% of why I own it.

If you were going to buy a chisel, would you buy the cheapest one Wickes makes, or spend a little extra to get the job done properly and buy a black & decker?

Buying a named product isn't always about it being 'designer' (although I have to say, I think with Apple products it is a lot of the time), it's about getting the best quality product that will do the best job within your price range.

My issue was more with the mention that someone liked the fact that not everyone owns one, since that way it's an exclusive club. The analogy was aimed at that, not aimed to criticise the phone itself.
