Join the club on the multitask bit. But the conference is good for making contacts and there is a variety of suppliers. I was surprised at how useful the future visions video was, now I'm using it to relook at a user interface I have to plan out.

I'm surprised the Geek Girl camp doesn't have one, but then it seems to be more of a social and knowledge sharing type site (I can't think of a better way of saying it!), rather than a forum.
elsiegee40 Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 TBH I'd rather be seen as an edugeek than a girly geek... I've been in IT for the last 25 years and am used to not having many other girls around... wouldn't want to be treated differently just because I'm female.

I couldn't go this time as Chorley is a looonnng way from here - but if I could have done, I would have! I am not a specialist in anything much but I like to meet people and learn things - and it is lovely to put faces to names, as well. You certainly dont need to be a specialist. How about us girls pledging to meet up at BETT next year? (or earlier if there is something we can all get to) That includes those of you who don't admit to being female on the forums - I know you are out there! 2

witch Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I also don't want to be treated any differently because I am female ( and have been in electronics, if not IT for a very long time) but I would like to show that there are females that do this job too and do it well - maybe it will encourage a few more into the field - you never know. Besides, I would like to meet my fellow female geeks, just for solidarity in the face of the overwhelming male numbers on the forum. (then again, one female geek is worth, ooh, lets say 1000 male geeks - so there may be more of us than you!! ) *did you enjoy the conference Tazz? Who did you meet?

We would love to meet more Girls It was lovely to meet Witch at BETT this year as well as Tazz at the conference, we had about 5 females didn't we at the conference (sorry wasn't taking count just as i was walking around etc) which is an improvement on last year but yes more the merrier

Actually a joint event with Microsoft if it all pans out, at their UK HQ in Reading, so there is absoloutly noexcuse for any of you to miss it as it will be held during an autumn half term break. Once we've got Spain and Denver out of the way I shall get more done in sorting this out. \there is also the possibility of an event north of the border, but we shall have to wait and see about that.
