HI, a friend of mine has an HD Flip camera, we have the normal non-HD ones.

On our network we use the klite codec pack, and can edit the videos in MovieMaker fine.

On their network, even with the klite codec pack, they are unable to edit the videos in MovieMaker.

Is this because the videos taken with HD Flips are a different format, so unable to be klite'd or Moviemaker'd ?

Thank you.

Hi there

I know a primary school that uses the HD flip cameras if not mistaken. I've configured the computer images myself and use the k-lite full codec pack. I am pretty sure the imported videos work with movie maker but can check.

Thanks- if you can check, I would appreciate that! SUre it can work, but don't want to advise others if it really doesn't. Thank you.

We've got both the non-HD and HD Flip Videos, both are bit of a pain especially with Movie Maker.

(Looking for alternative video creation software if anyone has any suggestions??)

The HD Flip videos (are different and) do have to be converted before working in Movie Maker (Codec packs won't work). You can either use the supplied software and export the clips or use 3rd party software (for example FormatFactory is very good for all audio and video clips, and is free).

We have both Flip models and have found the only video codec you need to install for the non-HD Flip camera's is Xvid. The HD camera's on the other-hand use H.264 which is why they won't work with Windows Movie Maker.
