Zourous Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Hi all, Anyone know how to do this in the easiest way? I just want to grab audio from a bbc radio show, but every method I've tried so far has fallen flat on it's face.
mullet_man Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Best way is to, download Audacity, and record the Stereo mix. Export as a MP3 Job done. 1
JJonas Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Is that legal? probably not and certainly against iPlayers T&C's
Zourous Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 Thanks for the replys people There isn't a podcast as far as I can see for what I'm looking to copy Get_iPlayer is non windows, so not an option for me I've tried Audacity but don't seem to have an option to change to wave or stereo mix. My only options are microphone or Line in.
powdarrmonkey Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Get_iPlayer is non windows, so not an option for me False.
CaterinaAnna Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 ... There isn't a podcast as far as I can see for what I'm looking to copy ... I'd a feeling you'd say that!
Arthur Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Anyone know how to do this in the easiest way? Have you tried iPlayer Downloader? 1
russdev Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 I also believe that get_iplayer is no longer available author removed it after they implemented the last round of security on the iplayer system
Gerry Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Thanks for the replys people I've tried Audacity but don't seem to have an option to change to wave or stereo mix. My only options are microphone or Line in. Then you probably need to check your preferences: Edit->Preferences and have a look at the "Audio I/O" tab. 1
round2it Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 if you are using realtek audio the likes used in lenovo r61s then the wave out mix is not an option in audacity it has been removed at driver level other brands like the ones used in older dells etc do not suffer from this problem hope this helps only thing you can do is put a cable from the pc audio out into the mic in and selct microphone on the drop down list in audacity not the best quality but it is a work around for the realtek problem 1
glennda Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Get-iplayer works on windows fine - if you need to use a proxy server then the linux version is needed. It is against t&cs tho and also not all media is available for some reason. All it does it pretend to be an iphone so uses a hole in the security. Toby 1
Arthur Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 (edited) if you are using realtek audio the likes used in lenovo r61s then the wave out mix is not an option in audacity it has been removed at driver level I came across this problem once and found some instructions on the 'net which described how to add the "Stereo Mix" feature back by editing the drivers INF file IIRC. SimpleSi Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 but don't seem to have an option to change to wave or stereo mix Sometimes it needs to be selected in your advanced audio settings or jsut use tape to tape - speaker out from one comp to line in on another comp regards Simon 1
accura2000 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 2 computer, one plays the show, the other records via a 3.5 m to 3.5 m audio cable? simple but should work with little interferrence. 1
CESIL Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I restored the Stereo Mix option by installing Intel generic audio drivers for the motherboard audio on a Dell. Before that I used a cable to connect the front headphone socket to the rear line in socket and that worked too. 1
Zourous Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 Thanks to all, got it working now using the PC to PC method and an audio cable.
Arthur Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) Although you have done it now, you may want to give StreamTransport a try if you need to do this again in the future. I used it yesterday to download a radio programme from iPlayer and it worked perfectly. It can also be used to download videos from sites like YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion etc. and ones which use the RTMP protocol like iPlayer and Demand Five. It's very easy to use. Once you have found the audio or video clip using the built-in web browser, just highlight the relevant URL displayed in the lower-half of the window and click the Download button on the right. After it has finished downloading from iPlayer you will end up with a FLV file. Although the next step is entirely optional, I would recommend extracting the audio from the FLV wrapper using FLVExtract since the AAC file it produces will be compatible with a wider range of programs and devices. The extension can be changed to MP4 or M4A. The advantages to using StreamTransport compared to the method in Accura2000's post above are the you only need one PC, you can do other things while it's downloading, you don't lose any quality or capture other unintended noises (such as sounds from Windows programs) and you won't have the edit the file afterwards to remove any gaps. Krunched Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I have used Easy Hi-Q recorder in the past, seems like the sort of thing you are after.. Link: Easy Hi-Q Recorder - Download Hope that helps..
Arthur Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Correct me if I am wrong, but that program doesn't appear to do anything that you can't do with Audacity (for free). It also has one of the worst GUIs I have ever seen.
Ulrikad Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 One year old question. If you are looking for ways to rip audio from BBC Radio on Windows, you probably could try to use a sound recorder. Like what is discussed on the above, you need to play radio and then choose to record from stereo mix.
