Andie Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Small junior school, and I'm only part time, so two main methods: A) send pupil to get me if it's urgent and they know I'm in, or B) write it in the fault book strategically placed with pen attached to face them as they leave staff room, stored next to my FITS forms. They don't seem to value progress reports of jobs, which you get from a helpdesk. Just want to know when its fixed. 1
danrhodes Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Ditto... How do you do job tracking then or prove your worth if you have no record of what jobs have been completed?
special_k Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 MyLittleHelpDesk - 32inch LCD mounted on the wall with an eeepc strapped to the back of it refreshing an Opera page every 15 seconds. 1
danrhodes Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 MyLittleHelpDesk - 32inch LCD mounted on the wall with an eeepc strapped to the back of it refreshing an Opera page every 15 seconds. I like this idea! Do staff get to see this as well?
Disease Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 We use a simple hlpdesk at the moment, I have however invested in Richmond Systems commercial help desk which we will be rolling out in the summer.
buzzard Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 We use the One or Zero Helpdesk (older free one) for the 26 schools/units/teaching units we look after. Thel log jobs but tend to have a load more when we arrive on site. In a previous post in Bolton we did have a helpdesk (liberium) that very few people used, the norm in that school was the teacher to send a pupil down as a messanger with a note. if we where out it was slipped under the door. getting a user friendly way for staff to EASILY log calls (in a teacher easy type of way) is the key, above all no matter what the method used, ensure you and your team log a call on the system to quantify and record what it is you're doing!
apoth0r Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 We have a similar system as webman but if they cannot access the PC there is a phone within each classroom to enable us to be contacted if a problem with PC in the room. Phones are locked down to internal calls only
special_k Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 the LCD is in our office - staff access it through a link on our sharepoint site. No phones in our classrooms as the kids tend to steal anything thats not bolted down.
rad Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Our staff run in the office all guns blazing waving their arms. We hen follow them out the door, walking 10 metres behind so not to engage convo! 1
