We have been using Game Maker 8 for some time, but recently when running games, are Anti Virus (McAfee 8.7i) is detecting "Trojans" within the C: Temp folder. I don't believe they are genuine Trojans but McAfee is obviously detecting them as they are trying to acccess the Temp folder.

Has anybody else experienced this? Disabling the On-Access Scanner will allow the program to run correctly but this is no good long term.

Cheers

Well i project of programing is very interesting and quite very genuine. Also i would say that your creating sense are very good sounding. I would like to ensure you the disabling the scanner will effect you adversely. Initially it may ok but further could create problems.

Thanks for your reply Leosmith.

I agree, disabling the On-Access scanner was never ideal but fortunately McAfee have since released a DAT version which seems to fix the issue.

Thanks again.

Was about to say this is easy to deal with; by default McAfee reports a problem with programs running from either temporary file folders or downloaded file folders. If you open up mcafees console, double click on access scanner (or was it access protection?) you get a grid with some ticks to tell you what it reports or deals with by default. Find the entry for running progs from temp folder and untick it as you need. Quite a handy tip this especially if you do anything like installing programs - Sims is a great example, you'll get McAfee whinge about 20 times during the average SIMS install :D
