BBC Bitesize on Terminal Server

I logged onto the terminal server today, noticed it was a bit sluggish. I took a look at the task list and saw that there were several IE sessions taking up a fair chunck of CPU between them and a large amount of RAM too (See attached)

 

I shadowed one or two of the sessions and noticed that they were all using BBC Bitesize, specifically the flash games. Has anyone noticed the same? Have you managed to get round it?

 

I suspect that uninstalling the flash player on this thing would lead to me getting gutted in the playground so please don't suggest that

Latest Flash player has a memory leak. My Linux desktop box at home keeps complaining about it.

use a ram limiter - locks up that user but everyone else doesn't suffer

I've been saying for a while that IE (plus Flash) are horrible and are the second cause of slowing my servers (after the evil that is Sophos).

I'm not sure if this will help as flash is flash, but have you tried opera - it is fast and easy to lock down (through local config files which is ok on TS)

Opera doesn't play too nicely with the NTLM authentication on our ISA Server

Yeah I have felt flash has been a bit iffy for a while, basically since Adobe had its paws on it. Grrr... I can imagine the next new FoxIt software product - Foxit Flash Player

We have had similar problems with any Flash media, be it software or website. This has caused me many, many headaches as every "Edookayshunal" software package now uses flash to provide an "engaging" user interface and when it does not run at 30fps on 30 workstations, suddenly teachers "can't teach" and the clients are no longer "fit for purpose" (although this may be down to the fact that they do not have an Apple stamped on the side).

 

I think the latest Wyse management software (if the advertising blurb is to be believed) may make this lagging slightly less of an issue though.
