notnyl Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) Hi, First post here... A nursery school I work in currently has a 2mbps line from Synetrix. We now want to upgrade as the bandwidth is not enough for the school's current needs. A query for upgrade cost from Synetrix came in at £7000 one off, plus around £7000 a year. Can we lose Synetrix as an ISP, keeping the remaining LGfL services such as hosted email, free antivirus, URN...? We've been looking into a bonded ADSL service with Smoothwall filtering to provide around 16mbps Thanks Edited April 1, 2010 by notnyl
gonzodad Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Hi notnyl – The matrix of lgfl services can be found here cms.lgfl.net - Services . If you do go ‘off net’ - to a non lgfl connection then you will probably lose access to all lgfl hosted content etc. Synetrix have been running a promotion since Christmas on 2-5 mb upgrades to 10mb – so the figures you mention can be greatly reduced (assuming you’re on a 2mb fibre connection atm). Best talk to your LA who will have full details of the offer, or pm me with your details and i’ll see what i can do. Cheers gonz 1
eejit Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Have many people left Synetrix and what are your experiences? We've had a terrible couple of weeks and today's connection has been unbelievable, so we are seriously looking at moving away. I'd be interested to hear of which ISP's people moved to and if they are now happy with that choice. Thanks!
