sorry to hear about the problems you're having tonyd. we did indeed have a event that caused loss of service for you. I'm concerned about the other items you raised (to get all the services working), can you pm me your details and i'll make sure someone works thru them with you. cheers gonz -

yes, currently certain changes don't come into affect immediately. call the service desk and they can confirm the method you are doing is correct. -

Synaesthesia – if you used to have access to admin webroot, then equivalent accts are available in mailmarhsall. The new system has been in since beginning of Aug…my understanding...the decision to have a staged release and not initially open admin console to all, was so that the project team could monitor, control the and have full visibility of the issues as the system took its first real steps at the start of term. PM me your details and I can check your admin acct and get details to you. Cheers Gonz -
Is embc broken at the mo'?
gonzodad replied to mats's topic in East Midlands Broadband Consortium (EMBC)
hi guys - unfortunately the SAN in one of the data centres failed, as per the top major incident in the picture rush_tech has posted. not sure why the traffic lights were still green, they should be now as service restored, but not during the event. I will look into it. Sorry for the disruption to service. Regards Gonz -
Website Hosting - Upgrades?
gonzodad replied to Edu-IT's topic in East Midlands Broadband Consortium (EMBC)
hi willott - that mirrors what we see on our side, hundreds of html based sites with normal load and any individual webserver works fine, however it only takes a few PHP CMS sites with high load and we can see issues. We are looking at other options to address this, in the mean time ill find out about the sql servers for you. -

andy_d - you could either be down due to the upgrade (and not knowing about it) or as grunmbledook says, if you are on web2 (which was swapped out due to a fault over Christmas). I take your point about the communications, i will check, but i think the only formal way embc and LA's can contact the school is via normal letter to the Head. I will see if we can augment that in the future by mining for email details from our servicedesk app for the last person to log a call on (in this example) webhosting, which should be typically someone like yourself. obviously its just an idea at this stage and could be shot down in flames at some point, but i will look into it. -

The problem ticket was updated with the below earlier today, it looks like it will be a few more days. We are trying out some immediate options for individual schools with urgent requirements that can't work to that timeframe, pm me for more details. ---------- The restores have now taken place on the new Web2 server. The current estimate for this server to be put into live production is now provisionally Christmas Eve. This date will be dependent on the outcome of further QA work and stress testing currently being performed by engineers which may result in further optimisation work. This means that access to update websites and the Plesk panel will be unavailable until this is completed and the change freeze lifted.
