I picked one up on Friday. It's a great bit of kit even if you don't hack it, much better quality than I thought it would be.

 

I don't have anything O2, so the messaging doesn't work for me, but I do that on my phone anyway, I don't think I need to see messages in my kitchen.

 

The new app shop allows you to use google calendar so that is much better than the O2 calendar anyway. Personally I wouldn't bother with a PAYG or contract from O2 to go with it as it's not going to make any difference how I use it.

 

I've decided not to hack mine as it seems fairly tricky and probably a bit beyond my abilities. I have read you can add the open frame apps, it's the same Open Peak hardware rebranded for O2. You have to telnet in to it and you can add the apps, including facebook and flickr apps. I might have a go at doing that as it seems less likely i'll brick it! The apps are just .swf so it could even be possible to write some stuff for it. More info about this on joggler.info

 

Great toy for £50, I'm loving the internet radio and YouTube is quite cool on it.

 

For anyone planning on installing Ubuntu, I would avoid connecting it to the internet before hand, as it will update the firmware as soon as it is connected.

The Ubuntu install doesn't effect the base operating system. It just installs Ubuntu on a memory stick and boots from that. Thereby there is little risk in having a crack.

Well, I have had my joggler a day and its pretty cool! Got Mer to run (with a few issues) and atm just messing. Once support gets going its going to be a great toy

I have kinda given up on mine, I am waiting for android tho

I couldn't get Ubuntu to work well enough on the touch screen to make it of any use and the sound issues under the O2 OS just annoy me.

 

What did everyone else do with theirs?

I use mine as an alarm clock, radio and to stream video from my server so i can watch stuff in bed.

Just collected mine. Although the card readers didn't seem to be working, luckily I had cash.

 

It will be useful in the kitchen if nothing else.

The base system looks a bit grim, but there's some nice youtube demos where they've used Ubuntu netbook remixes.

 

This changes everything.

 

£50 for a tablet is brilliant.

No, by all means get one. For me its been a learning experience, as I'm cutting my teeth with Linux and its a challenge. But I don't like how the touch screen is implemented and the icons are too small for my fat fingers lol! Web browsing is a pain with just touch, especially if your used to the iPhone/touch/pad as it shows how intuitive their system is.

That would be food. There's not much else I think that about. It's more like would I enjoy playing with this?

Keep mine at my bedside. I use the 02 side for radio streaming (with extra stations hack) and upnp. I use the ubuntu side if I fancy watching sumthin on bbc iplayer etc.

Has been good fun playing about with it.

Got mine home, plugged in and updated. Youtube and Google Calendar working. Midway through managed to bruise or break my little finger (with a drill not the Joggler). Waiting for the swelling to go down before deciding whether it's broken. Anyway the Joggler is looking and sounding good. Will have a go at Linux when I get a good fast stick.
