garethEds Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Well it's 1 March - St David's Day in Wales -a day of celebration - and we do not get a logo on Edugeek :-( It's a disgrace I tell you. Diolch yn fawr, Gareth
garethEds Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) I was 3 minutes behind you making it live.... Apologies. Thanks - I knew you wouldn't let us Welshies down. I think it needs some daffodils - (ooo look at me getting bossy). Gareth Edited March 1, 2010 by garethedmondson daffodils
vikpaw Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 i just noticed it pop up! Diolch yn fawr Happy St. D's to all the welshy peeps. 1
FN-GM Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I hope there will be one for the 17th. I would like to celebrate my Irish roots. I created a St Davids day logo for our VLE on friday.
vikpaw Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 the only one that is routinely forgotten is that one towards the end of April, i forget what it's called now...
elsiegee40 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Happy St David's Day everyone... especially the half-bloods like me! I think it needs some daffodils - (ooo look at me getting bossy). Gareth I usually have daffs in my garden for St David's Day, but not this year... they look like they'll be at least 2 or 3 weeks yet I keep getting told off for supporting Wales not England in the rugby by my family... though I have repeatedly reminded my son that he could play rugby for Wales as his grandmother is Welsh! Anyone remember Norman Tebbit's cricket loyalty test... I think the rugby is similar!
localzuk Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I asked a colleague earlier 'is it some Welsh special day or something today?' and got a shocked look
Arcath Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 i had to refesh without cache in chrome to see it if you want to stop the browser caching the image thus topping your lovely artwork coming through change the image url to something like /path/to/image.jpg?date=01032010 and make php change the to the current day. that way the browser will only cache the logo for one day. Although if you come on before the logo change it wont be much help :S I put the current unix time stamp on webcam images but that means the cache is bypassed every load... i suppose the current hour would be fine
Gerry Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 If anyone's interested, this is what Wikipedia has to say about Saint David Some interesting bits in that article.
sidewinder Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 No chance of forgetting about it with my welsh mum forcing me to wish her happy St Davids Day this morning Im not even bloody welsh!
elsiegee40 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Im not even bloody welsh! You're half Welsh though!
Batman Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Very cool logo, I approve. I'm not welsh but I don't see that it matters Actually my father in law is part welsh, I often catch him singing in welsh to my son...
Gerry Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Very cool logo, I approve. I'm not welsh but I don't see that it matters Actually my father in law is part welsh, I often catch him singing in welsh to my son... Let me guess, it's got to be either: [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hen_Wlad_Fy_Nhadau]Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] or [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sosban_Fach]Sosban Fach - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] and if your son is quite young, probably the latter. Just a little taste of the Welsh language for you folks!
Batman Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Well one he sings is the national anthem and the other is something about a goat? I can't remember!
Gerry Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Found this: Cyfri'r Geifr - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 1
elsiegee40 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Well one he sings is the national anthem That'll be Hen_Wlad_Fy_Nhadau (see earlier) and the other is something about a goat? I can't remember! can't help you with that one... the only other one I know is Sosban Fach (which is a nonsense song 'Little Saucepan')
kearton Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) Well, if we're putting in orders in advance, I'd like ones for [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waitangi_day]6th February[/ame] and [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anzac_day]25th April[/ame] please Edited March 1, 2010 by kearton fixed typo
Batman Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Found this: Cyfri'r Geifr - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia That's the one!
