nec powermate

quotes coming in thick and fast for new pcs, quite like the look of nec powermate ml450, micro tower. Anyone got any are they reliable/worth the money etc. Will I struggle to get parts when warrenty period over, do they have standard issue psu's fitted?

I don't have any, but there are a good few on here that have them, and I can only remember reading good things about them. They have always impressed me in terms of pricing and quality of the kit when I have seen it and used it.

We bought 107 of them in the summer, our first purchase from NEC.

 

Not had a problem with any of them so far, plus they have a good design and run pretty quietly.

 

Only niggles are the tool-less case - easy fixed with nut/bolt or tie wrap.

Non standard PSU - not sure on how easy it is going to be to get replacements outside of warranty, only time will tell.

 

EDIT: The PSU is a FSP Group - FSP220-50LD

 

They do have standard ATX connectors, but the size may be non standard to fit the small style cases.

Hi,

 

We recently recieved just over 200 powermate ml250's. And I've not been impressed with the quality, from are inital batch we've had over 10% with the name onboard network problem. Where the network card just fails, the warrenty is good. Next business day and they've have come out and replaced the faulty motherboards.

But over 10% from one batch in my eyes is totally unacceptable.

We've been buying NECs for the past three years. We've bought about 150-odd and have had no more than half a dozen fail over the course of the time we've been buying them. When there is a failure, there is an engineer out the next working day to fix it. We have a mixture of old VL5s (now discontinued I think) and VL350s in both micro-desktop and mini-tower format.

 

They perform well, are reasonably quiet, well priced and well supported. Can't complain about them at all.
