Morning all,

Just bought a Iphone 3gs in White (looks amazing in my eyes)

Just wondering if iphone lovers out there have any "geeky" apps they use for work that may be useful to me or anybody else......

Have the RDP app nothing else that geeky

Cheers

I use an RDP app, as well as a couple of the VNC ones.

Also, 1Password can be handy as a secure repository for noting down passwords etc - but this app makes a lot more sense if you have 1Password on the Mac to sync with.

on my iphone:

first of all setup with your exchange server email & calendar (share your calendar so people can see what your doing and add tasks)

APPS:

Vmanage (if you have VMWare Virtual servers)

VNC (free) VNC App

iRdesktop (free) RDP App

iNet Network Scanner App

SNMPmon (SNMP Monitor I use it with printers for toner levels/ and servers to monitor drive space)

MTelnet (Telnet app, to access those non gui options)

PlugPlayer (control UPNP Media clients and servers)

WirelessHD (Wireless Hard Disk access files on your iphone through a webbrowser)

Skype (works even through our filtering proxies)

Previous poster mentioning AirMouse just reminded me. Logitech Touch Mouse is new(ish) and free.

Works very well using a tiny little application installed on either a Mac or a PC. I use it as a wireless presenter now.

If you want to make your music dept and music techs jealous, there are a plethora of remote MIDI control and OSC control apps out there too, to allow remote control of Cubase transport and mixer from iPod Touch & iPhone...

TouchOSC

iTM Pad

iTM Matrix

iXY

MMM

iTM MCU

Cubase iC

Mobile sequencing for music students...

MelodicaFree

TonePad

PaklSound1

Virtual instruments to allow kids to practice basic music theory (yr7/8) at home... or for experimentation in class room...

Virtuoso

NLogFree

KalimbaFree

Special needs dept...

Bloom - autistic kids particularly fond of this

And finally, I'm sure Science Dept would appreciate braking/accel/lateral-G meter for £7.50...

Dynolicous

Log Box

For personal purposes...

VLC Remote

Reader (parses RSS & XML Feeds)

Moodagent (gadg show the other night - s'rather good - makes playlists based on mood)

Disc Space (iPhone disc space)

Battery (more precise battery meter)

eWifi (scans for wifi)

Support Center - head to Downloads, grab the UK network PDF... upload to fone with discover. Can find out where you can get on net for free on TheCloud thru-out the UK without needing to be connected to any other service first (unlike most of the WiFi Hotspot Apps on iTunes - and it's also distinctly more up to date too)

Unmentioned ICT apps...

Touchterm - SSH Client

Flashlight - handy for in back of cabs and racks

Schools in USA are using trays of iPod Touches as teaching aids in classes... UK is behind on this. Understandable in some schools tho - they'd vanish far too frequently.

Another one I now use frequently...

Server Admin - iPhone version of MAC OSX Server's ServerAdmin - covers monitoring, stop/starting, and access to all service logs.

Posted

Cisco WebEx - join WebEx conferences on the iPhone

Dropbox - sync files online and across computers

Tripcase - travel application

Goodreader - for viewing large pdf and text files
