Dos_Box Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) @ Danielle. This isn't Facebook. You need to introduce yourself properly in the correct forum (hint, look in General Chat), and tell people what you do and what company you represent. Hopefully this will stop my inbox clogging up with emails entitled 'She's doing it AGAIN!' moved the thread boss to introductions As the Introduce Yourself thread seems to be going off topic, as that is a sticky i think this would all be best in the thread that "theeldergeek" created. You need to introduce yourself properly in the correct forum (hint, look in General Chat), and tell people what you do and what company you represent. Hopefully this will stop my inbox clogging up with emails entitled 'She's doing it AGAIN!' either I am not getting the hang of this , or you just don't like me. But everything I seem to do is wrong. I can't advertise my company so introducing myself is a bit out of the question, and if people are complaining can they not just not read my thread?

I personally think the locking of your previous thread, and the comment above is quite harsh. Perhaps you're a bit more "friendly" than the average geek member, but I think you've been shown an awful welcome. I'm actually quite embarrased. This forum has been full of negativity recently. What happens when a ray of happiness comes in.... they get told to restrict themselves and have a thread locked! Can't win! 1

I haven't seen much of what you've posted, or where, but I haven't seen any problem with any of it thus far I have to admit.
LosOjos Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 It all seems a bit daft to me, I sense that there's a mixture of jealousy and prudishness going on, I personally have been having a good laugh at some of the posts, nout wrong with some light entertainment

In fear of sparking off yet another "moderation" thread, on the surface, I have to agree. Aside from a certain young lady in another continent who seemed to take an immediate dislike to our new 'geeker', Danielle has not done anything wrong, not that I have seen. Where is the problem? And who's been emailing Dos_Box saying she has?
mb2k01 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 And who's been emailing Dos_Box saying she has? I wondered the exact same thing. I'm sure it's the kind of people who will no doubt take exception to our disappointment and attempt to justify their patheticness....
korifugi Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) And who's been emailing Dos_Box saying she has? Now, now - something like this is for Dos_box to sort and I don't think he needs any meddling. I mean, c'mon people - we're all professionals here and as much as I like a bit of banter as much as the next man; and while some people may come across as having less than adequate people skills - we should still at least be civil without resorting to naming and flaming. Let's be nice - not just to pretty ladies who seem to be a little *ahem* frisky... the ruuuules man - hate the ruuuules. you're not the boss 'o me just read through this and though it comes across as a bit holier-than-thou, not my intention to do that! apologies for any offence/distress/suffocation/spontaneous human combustion caused Edited January 22, 2010 by korifugi clarifying schtuff!

korifugi Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 sorry won't cut it pal, this shirt is ruined! That's easy to sort - just stand in the middle of your kitchen and muse loudly to yourself how you are going to get rid of the stains from the shirt... "Hmmm, I'll never get these human entrails out" Sure enough - some woman dressed in epilepsy inducing pink should appear behind you stating how vanish can sort all that! 1

What's she done wrong? 14 minutes and I'm outta here anyway, to, errr, go home and probably log straight back into Edugeek! Sad, very sad... . Edited January 22, 2010 by theeldergeek

korifugi Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 A cold, scary place where people ask me to fix things,,,

And who's been emailing Dos_Box saying she has? Wouldn't say I took an instant dislike. Someone ask for a pic and I found one, it my have been wrong to post it but was taken down as quickly as I posted it so want loose any sleep over it. I then made a comment that maybe flirting on a public forum while advertising her company might not be the best PR choice. You may not find anything wrong with her posts but then again it's not your company she is bringing into disrepute.

RingOfFlame Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 If you scroll up/back a page you'll see this discussion actually took place in general chat but was merged in to this thread... Where should it take place now then? I thought about creating a new thread to post but knew I would be accused of dragging up locked threads and chances are it would have been deleted! Seeing as a mod moved the original thread to here how are we to continue?
mb2k01 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I thought about creating a new thread to post but knew I would be accused of dragging up locked threads and chances are it would have been deleted! Seeing as a mod moved the original thread to here how are we to continue? That is a simple question, but one which I don't think will be easily answered. Inconsistent moderation, secretive administration, no consultation with users and no clearly defined rules cause problems for all. I didn't personally agree with your picture posting which kicked off the whole debate yesterday, but being that we are all in the role of educating people, it seems ironic that it is acceptable to lock, punish and censor instead of correct, educate and move on.
localzuk Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Wow, an awful lot of hostility has appeared lately. What is going on? So, Danielle is friendly and chatty. We have members who seem entirely grumpy and unchatty also. If Danielle gets told off what is this saying? 'We don't want friendly people here! Only grumps allowed!' Come on, we had Jake on this forum for quite some time, with plenty of innuendo worse than anything that has been said in the last few days and that was perfectly acceptable! Or lots of Mattx's posts which are sometimes funny, sometimes outrageous etc... Why is it different when a young female member tries to lighten things up? Ringofflame - so passive aggressive, why are you always picking and finding fault in everything that people say and do? Have you not realised that in the short time you've been here, you've got yourself a reputation? It isn't normally a good thing to have negative rep like that you know. Wouldn't it be better if people just chatted in a friendly way, it isn't harming anyone? 4

It's your opinion, you are entitled to it, but I personally see no harm in how she conducted herself. Edited January 23, 2010 by theeldergeek
Edu-IT Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I then made a comment that maybe flirting on a public forum while advertising her company might not be the best PR choice. From what I saw she never said anything unsuitable that could cause people question her ability or the company that she works for. It was harmless fun; I'm sure similar discussions take place round the office water cooler at times. 1

I agree with you completely. recently I have been thinking about leaving here as I am finding the that the tone of the place has changed for the worse. This used to be a place we could express our views on basically any subject but now unless it is deemed politically and socially acceptable by certain people who have wormed their way into the heart of EduGeek you get your threads locked or your posts deleted without any explaination.
Guest richard_s Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I don't see any harm in it at all either.
