@_Bat_: Where in the country are you? I have a copy of the ZIPs and license which I can put onto a CLEO-accessible web server... it doesn't help you if you aren't in CLEO though.

Birmingham unfortunately :(

Am i doing something wrong...? O downloaded a couple off Geoff's mirror and they downloaded really quickly at around 1mb speed. I did one of ht history ones and also the news one.

Trouble is when i go to extract the zip files it says there s no files to extract or is corrupt.

Should i be renaming the file extension or am i missing something here?

Geoffs mirror seems okay to me. But... go to bed! Work tomorrow! :p

I'm tempted to leave the rest downloading at work overnight, this is taking too much time.

just tried a download from Geoff's server and get,

"This archive is either in an unknown format or damaged" when i try to unzip. Haven't tried Irazmus yet as it's during school hours.

I started a download from Irazmus' server at about 8:15 cos I thought that internet wouldn't be in major use until about 9. Anyway the download thought it had finished about 10 mins ago after only about 190mb and I got a similar error message as well. As for Geoffs, they appear fine so far, but still downloading.

The news one is definately broken on my server. I'm attempting to sort that out. I'm also missing the WW2 archive. I'll fix that once the News one is sorted.

It is, but I think some of the files are corrupt. I have tried to redownload them from Irazmus but his LEA's reverse proxy keeps failing. I'm going to see if I can get them off Ric instead as we're both in the CLEO network and I should be able to see his webserver.

Our webserver has died twice this morning so I've removed the files while firguring out what's going wrong.

I'll put them back up once I find what's causing it to freeze.

K, these results so far from Geoffs webserver using IE to download and 7ZIP to extract:

- Animals & Plants successfully unzipped

- Environment threw up this error: "CRC failed in WMV\ca_bbc_0483_flashflood.wmv" file is broken

- History 1 "not supported archive"

- History 2 "not supported archive"

Cheers Geoff and Ric. All appear to be working fine now except for WW2 which I have tried twice now and fails to unzip. 7ZIP doesn't seem to throw up an error, just won't extract files either.

Also, how are you all giving this out to the teachers? I assume most of you are putting it on a network share, but do you then just give them a link directly to a network share?

I have created a basic webpage which ATM gives links to each different category within the BBC Creative Archive, but i'm not very happy with it, it doesn't seem very professional. I'm toying with the idea of creating a hyperlink to each video and picture, but that will take forever. :(

You could convert them to flash videos and embed a flash video player into some web pages.

Thats a good idea actually.... is there any way of doing this easily without server side scripts though with regards to links? It's too early in the morning for me to be thinking of this, haha.

Not too sure. You could probably create some fancy javascript for a webpage, or a vbscript to run yourself that would generate the necessary HTML for each one individually.

Thinking about it, the first option is probably the easiest of the two.
