stujoslin13 Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Looking through this page I haven't seen any refrence to the greatest computer game of all time, Football Manager. Any players out there? Currently with Grays Athletic, doing well in the Conference
Geoff Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I've 'obtained' LMA Manager 2007. I'm messing about with PNE atm.
Norphy Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I used to be hooked on Championship Manager 2 back in the day. It all went a bit pear shaped with CM3 imo.
stujoslin13 Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 I got into it with CM3! Although the layouts are getting dodgier and dodgier by the year, so the Turnstyle 3 skin is a must. Just started playing a game called "Let's Make A Soccer Team" on the PS2, where you take a Niall Quinn role as chairman/manager ans control absolutely everything about the club. It takes a bit of getting used to, but I love stats so it's OK for me
ConTheITGuy Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Sensible World of Soccer (on the Amiga) - ah the memories! Andy
Sylv3r Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I have both the new Championship Manager and Football Manager games and I must say I prefer Football Manager and have done for the last coupe of years now.
Elky Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 FM07 is the dogs danglies! I've just won promotion to the Conference! Sensible World of Soccer - a game that will never be beaten no matter what!
Zoom7000 Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 I love Football Manager and I'm always over at The Forums. Flying high with West Ham at the moment. You can instantly tell it's a fantasy! (Flying high with West Ham!)
tosca925 Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I used to love FM but i just dont get the time anymore to play.
Elky Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I'm currently in the Premiership with Havant & Waterlooville and also England manager. Yes, I've been playing the same game for months!
Zoom7000 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I'm currently in the Premiership with Havant & Waterlooville and also England manager. Yes, I've been playing the same game for months! Havant & Waterlooville! Damn man, how many seasons have you managed to get through?
GrumbleDook Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I have just started again from scratch on FM2007 ... previously on FM2006 I had taken Tranmere Rovers on to win the world club cup twice, and was very happy to have Alan Shearer as my assistant manager. Every so often I do have a second game going on .. play it for about 3 years (in game years) and financially ruin Chelsea and Man U ... just because I can ;-) Usual teams are Tranmere Rovers and Liverpool.
Elky Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I won the world cup and marginally escaped relegation from the premiership - class
DSapseid Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I play this all the time. Started a new one a couple of months back with brighton and got two successive promotions and won the league cup first season, uefa cup second season, european super cup third season and currently 6th in prem in my 3rd season. Gareth Bale is my star player!
DSapseid Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Got the new version of this yesterday, a whole day before the actual release date . So far i think it is better than the last one and the new interface is really nice.
Inbir316 Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 just finished 2nd season with liverpool: premier league champs and unbeaten. league cup and uefa cup winners. 1st season i won fa cup and came 6th!! and ironically 2nd season my top scorer all comps was crouch! 30-35 goals
Sylv3r Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I've been playing this for the last couple of weeks but Im waiting for the end of the transfer window so I can download one of the update packs to ensure my game is as up-to-date as possible.
CyberNerd Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I played football manager to death on the Acorn Electron, I recall it was a bit slow. but then it did have 32KB RAM
Zoom7000 Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I've downloaded a data update and started playing this again seeing as my PC can hardly play anything else of interest!
comedydave Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I played football manager to death on the Acorn Electron, I recall it was a bit slow. but then it did have 32KB RAM I'm pretty sure they are totally unrelated. The football manager that is out now, is a continuation of the Championship Manager series after 2004. At this point the developers "SI Games" split with distributers "Eidos". In the "divorce" Eidos kept the name, and SI kept the database - I think SI purely then just used the name, Football Manager as it seemed uncomplicated. Great game. Only game's I play nowadays are that and Counter-Strike
