Dummy / Easy to use Photo Size Converter

Is there any REALLY easy software or apps that can reduce the size of image files ie: 4mb jpeg from digital camera, to 1mb or under... Facebook have something similar that once you upload the picture if you view and download it's like 800kb... etc

 

Any help appreciated... currently doing it the fireworks way but been asked by someone who can hardly work the computer and fireworks isnt suitable..

Write a small script that changes all images in a directory using mogrify.

As per Jobos - MS Imageresizer - even teachers use it

 

They just select all their pictures before uploading to website right click - Resize Pictures - click small - advanced - 2 more ticks and OK - job done

 

All pics resized to 640x480 for an image gallery

Perhaps not in the "For Dummies" category, but JPEG Imager is quite handy. Will do many things as well as resizing whole folders of images, creating an index as it goes.

I'd add my recommendation to that - use this all the time on my work machine (XP).

 

I don't do much resizing on my home PC so I tend to make do with Paint for the odd resize (Windows 7)

The only problem with this is you can't resize images by a percentage e.g. 50% smaller.

For all you Mac people out there, there is an application called iResize that does this on macs and its free!

I'd recommend PIXresizer, (Freeware)

 

It'll do percentages and pixel sizes for individual images, as well as allow you to change between common filetypes, should you wish to. Also supports batch file processing, read CNET's blurb for more.

I used this one for batch resizing - seemed to work ok.

 

Just installed and it's dead easy to use. It says for Home use only but if you look at the licence it includes education and non commercial.
