b/g and n wireless at the same time

Would a system like Ruckus or Meru support having both a b/g and n wireless networks being active at the same time?

 

So if you have some older laptops which only support b/g and new laptops that support n, can these systems run 2 wireless networks without interference or problems? That way you get the best speeds for both laptops.

i believe they will but i think n devices will run at g speed if any non n devices are connected

You can run b/g networks with most Access Points, but I'm not so sure yet about b/g/n. The answer should be yes, but then I've read reports of g/n conflicting. The difficulty is that the n standard has been around for a while, but it's essentially a 'beta version', with the final version being slightly different.

 

I suspect some manufacturers will provide a firmware upgrade, but some may force you to upgrade to an official device. I would recommend you contact Ruckus and/or a distributor for a definitive answer.

my schools have Ruckus with both G & N clients running at the same time, as far as im aware they don't interfere with each other, my N laptop runs the speed test @ just over 91mb up & down.
