I've been getting quotes on Schools Agreement options lately and have found Insight to be the most helpful by a long way.

We've been using Viglen (despite getting rid of classlink this year), the guy there has been really helpful and their pricing has been the best we've found for a lot of licensing bits.

Ok let me more specific to avoid confusion; 'new' as in different to my existing company who I don't wish to mention here.

I've found WStore and Insight to both be very helpful and very competitive on licensing. Our school agreement is currently through WStore

We used Pugh for our licencing, who beat other companies for us, however a school down the road from us has similar requirements and they went with ramesys as they were cheaper for them.

 

Its best to ring around and get quotes.

We seem to mostly end up using Academia here (Educational Software, Academic Software, Educational software licensing, Training Resources, discounted Student Software, discounted Education Software). They pretty much always seem to give us the best prices.

We use insight as well. Very good service, and very helpful. Had a conference call with one of their licensing guys the other day to work our way through licensing requirements for App-V - very informative. Also, our account manager there is ace! (best price I've found as well for licensing)

Phoenix Software is the company I deal with usually.

I've also gone down the PC World Education (Business) Licensing before too - they pretty much bought my custom one year by undercutting everyone else!

We use Phoenix, Ramesys or Pugh, depending on what we're buying. For certain products/company's software one of them is usually cheaper than the other off the bat. Ramesys can usually (with sufficient encouragement) beat Phoenix on bulk Microsoft pricing, but on Citrix (for example) Phoenix have (or offer, straight-up) much better pricing.

 

For a lot of software, the difference is pennies, so pick the best service.

There are not that many MS Licensing Distributors - and most schools have to deal with the resellers or ISV's.

They are working on wafer thin margins and volumes to make it profitable for them.

If they put enough Licensing out they may get an extra kick back out of the Disty but the margins are still thin.

 

So it all comes down to how much effort is your account manager prepared to put in for your requirements.

It may be so time consuming that he is unlikely to make anything out of it, but that depends on what other business comes his way on the back of his or her efforts.

 

Sometimes paying a little bit more for a quality service is what you need to do.

Ramesys and Proband. Proband haven't been as competitive recently, Ramesys is always the cheapest for MS from experience of the bigger ones. Infact... if you mention Ramesys alot of people don't bother to quote :-(
