USB Charging

Hi everyone,

 

We've just bought 32 Mino Flips with re-chargeable battery packs for them. You charge them via the usb ports on a computer but i wondered if anybody knew of a reputable usb hub, preferably no less than 7 ports, that we could use to charge them without the need for a pc?

 

There's gotta be something...

They have power adaptors so you could make like a small laptop trolley or rack fixed to wall somewhere.

Thats the US site the UK one doesn't have the power adapters

 

We had teh same problem, just used a dlink hub and plugged one end into the pc not ideal but it works

I have the same problem here...all the USB hubs I have seen so far have the ports the wrong way round to allow multiple Flip units to be plugged in.

My desk looked awesome when i charged 12 at once with extension leads was a spider!

Hi guys,

 

Just ressurecting this thread.

 

I bought 5 USB hubs for our 30 cams. All Sweex 7-port hubs with power adapters. I plug all the cams in, plug the hubs in and the battery icon appears on the Flips but no charging symbol. If I plug the hub into a pc the charging symbol kicks in and they start charging for a few seconds and then stop and say 'Check Battery Pack- charging paused'.

 

Any more helpers on what I can do??

I have an HP wall charger that was for my HP Phone and the top of it just has a usb a socket on it would something like that work?

As an update, these may be a cheaper option:

Trust make them, and are £16 for a 7 port jobbie. A few of these should perform OK. Certainly cheaper than £299 for 32 ports, and you can spread these out a bot more. Imagine having 32 USB devices crowded together all charging at the same time!!

If Lapsafe are looking at this how about a decent custom USB charging station? For less than £300 please. It must be portable and lockable too.

We bought five 7-port USB hubs to charge our Flip Cams. Unfortunately- and this was very annoying- they failed to charge all the devices at the same time. I just don't think there is enough power to handle so many multimedia devices. Some of them started getting hot too probably due to a lack of sufficient power.

 

I'm not particularly savvy in electronics but this is was I deduced from this.

 

Anyone have any other ideas??

If you dont need one as big have a look at the plu ones like Best Value Veho USB-UK Mains adapter (VAA-003) - dabs.com they do various ones with different numbers of usb ports
