localzuk Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 We have 2 rooms which have work surfaces where the outer leg is one of those screw on types. We had an issue recently where a child somehow unscrewed one of them and made their 'bit' of counter (it is individual segments, like a christmas tree design) almost snap off. Has anyone got any ideas how we can permanently stick the legs to the counter. They have a single bolt which they screw onto. I've thought of using an epoxy resin. Trying to think if there's anything better though. Ideas?

Otherwise, if the flange (heh heh) on the top of the leg is any shape other than round, a well placed small wood screw would stop the causal twister from removing a leg, but still allow you to remove them if ever needed.
localzuk Posted October 19, 2009 Author Posted October 19, 2009 These legs are held on by a metal plate, with the bolt in - the hole is in the top of the leg. So, a screw doesn't look like it'd work - the legs are metal too.

p858snake Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 replace the bolt with a nice padlock? You should be able to get something called "bolt glue" and you stick that on the nut bit, but i recommend go talking to your local hardware store.

p858snake Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 you could get a square of wood and cut the circle out and then remove the leg and put it on then reattach the leg and screw the wood to the floor, should stop most people getting the leg out.

broc Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I think either epoxy or a metal bracket, I must admit I thought Loctite was just to prevent things vibrating loose? Or you could paint the table legs with anti-climb paint
mossj Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Polygrip?... Maybe you could fix a thin plate to the bottom of the leg, put the leg into position, then screw the plate into the floor?
