Hi all – At our school we have a problem communicating messages to teachers…. Eg a last minute message that all year 7 need to meet at lunch…

We use bromcom and can send a message to staff – but unless they open their email part they don’t get the message… we also have an Intranet – but forcing them to look at it every morning will never happen!

Does anyone know of a little program that could run on startup in the taskbar and flash a message on screen when sent? Something that would guarantee a message gets delivered to a teacher when they log on?

How does your school deal with the problem, thanks for any suggestions..

Messenger it comes with windows xp, doesnt require any installations as it is apart of windows xp machines and when the teachers really goof up the machines they can just send you a remote assistance request :)

Other then that trillian as it is a multi messenger chat client :)

Ok Thanks

Here you go

Its only for LAN purposes as its unsecure but teachers found it a useful way to contact staff instead of walking to the other side of the school but the systems need to up and running.

Downright lazy really.

You are of course remembering that alot of places block messenger access on the premise that they dont want the pupils "chatting" all day and/or being at risk from unspeakable nasty folk.

I can filter it in my firewall anyhow if the county wasnt doing so anyhow handily :D

A good, managable messing system is desireable - one that network managers can control and monitor in case of misuse. I'm thinking all convo's are recorded perhaps - in the sense of logged in case of employee bullying/abuse, etc.

lol true true.

I'm refering to some places not allowing the service at all - regardless of whether its pupils or teachers using it.

Sorry - didnt realise I hadnt put that in it *doh!*

Ideally, you would want a little box that pops up like that displayed by Messenger when you get an email or a contact goes online.

Maybe it's something for the project?
