PEO Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I'm developing a learningwall which is going to be used by our students for accessing files and resources. at the moment I'm really struggling to come up with ideas for the header. It needs to be fresh, web 2.0 feel, and have the title "LearningWall" I want to do something funky but I am really strugling to come up with ideas. Could anyone help me out or make some suggestions? I would really appreciate it Kev
PEO Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 this is about as far as I have got... I hate having these mental blocks
p858snake Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 maybe have a look at something like the adobe kuler or colourlovers websites for colour ideas and maybe a non stock font so it looks a tad more interesting. We might be able to offer more of a idea if we know what it was going into, could we perhaps see a screenshot of this "learning wall"? 1
PEO Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 The buttons need tidying up and the menu will be droped below the header and tidyed upm also. I created the graphics about 3 moth ago when I was just starting to use photoshop cs3.. now using cs4
PEO Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 each subject has a standard colour so I've used those for each subject button
EduTech Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I like the sound of this, might look at it myself for sharepoint James. 1
PEO Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 I'm looking at diffrent fonts rather than using the default standard ones we already get
PEO Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 I like the sound of this, might look at it myself for sharepoint James. If you are intrested in using the buttons I have them all in psd format I could send via msn messenger I just need to tidy some of them up and sort out the text reflection on most 1

PEO Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 some people have PM me with intrest on the progress with this project im on at the moment I'm beta testing Sysman new template so I figured it would be fun to see how it performs. So far imo its excellent and it has alot of protential. some screen shots added.
p858snake Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Might want to look at making the background of your favicon transparent, the white kinda sticks out. 1
webman Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 The 'Learning Wall' text kind of gets lost against that background - could you increase the contrast between the two to make it more readable? Good work otherwise 1
Sylv3r Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Not wanting to pick faults as I like what you and Sysman have done - but how about a spraycan rather than the pencil on top of the wall overlay? 1

HodgeHi Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Can you not also get a free graffiti font? Although what you have is waaay better than what i could do, i just think that the font you have along with the crayon seems a little child-like, especially for the year 7 to 9.
HodgeHi Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) You could try this...The Graffiti Creator - Home Of Graffiti Art There's some free graffiti fonts here http://simplythebest.net/fonts/graffiti_fonts.html You could also try this tutorial if you have access to photoshop http://www.rnel.net/tutorial/Photoshop/12208 Edited August 4, 2009 by HodgeHi 1

Little-Miss Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I liked what Sysman had done (damn he's good!). Dunno about the brick wall behind. But apart from that i like it! 1
