mossj Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 So... I've elected to spend my Sunday Softmodding my xbox to play old school games (pretty much any console pre psOne/N64) already *bought* Super Mario All Stars and the like.... but what old school games would you recommend, for me to *buy* ofc
mikeglover Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Batman has got me hooked on Donkey Kong Country from the SNES at the moment. It's so addictive
teddybear Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Goldeneye, one of the greatest games! Mario games are my favourite...
Gatt Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 how about Horace Goes Skiing Or for a real challenge - try a text adventure like The Hobbit
tech_guy Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 how about Horace Goes Skiing Or for a real challenge - try a text adventure like The Hobbit Heh heh, was playing The Hobbit on my pc only a few weeks ago. Remember playing it when it first came out on my Sinclair Spectrum. Anyone remember playing The Lords of Midnight? http://www.sincuser.f9.co.uk/030/ssftwre1.gif Don't laugh, it was groundbreaking in its day.
tmcd35 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 I think I had Lords of Midnight on the CPC ??? I also remember this one... http://www.lysator.liu.se/adventure/images/Interceptor_Micros/MessageFromAndromeda.jpg Or how about this Amiga Classic... http://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/original/1079588252-00.png

capncrunch Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Mario Kart for the SNES! it is the original and best version ever made Many hours wasted on that to complete 150cc mode, damn rainbow road.
Batman Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 snes9x lets you play lots of snes games... as Mike says, Donkey Kong Country is my favourite. Also, Star Wing (or Star Fox as it's sometimes known )
kmount Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 snes9x lets you play lots of snes games... as Mike says, Donkey Kong Country is my favourite. Also, Star Wing (or Star Fox as it's sometimes known ) I loved Lylat Wars on the N64 after Star Wing. I'm hooked on the DS at the moment, "new" Super Mario brothers ... how do children complete these games!!
Michael Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Although illegal there are many console emulators out there. The emulators themselves are legal, but of course the ROMs (the games themselves) are copyrighted. I still have an original NES (including the box) and an American N64 with a small amount of games. You can still buy many of them on auction sites for the best deals. Remember to check whether they're PAL or NTSC versions
Batman Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 It's an interesting conundrum isn't it. I mean... the guys who own the copyright don't want you to copy it but they won't sell you a copy either. Like you say, you can get it second hand... but that's not as convenient as playing it on the PC. Who wants a pile of old consoles lying around?
