Well this will come as a bit of a shock but I hate, yes I HATE technology. Most probably because I work with it. I have worked with it on a massive scale in a previous job, I worked with it when I had a small PC business many many years ago and I am currently working with it on a much smaller scale.

I much prefer the simple things in life like my garden, drinking a good wine and relaxing with a good film or listening to the radio. Too much technology in my opinion is around us and the majority of it is not necessary unless it's involved in a medical matter - [ like saving the life of my oldest son many years ago ]

 

 

Bless you this made me laugh you are absolutely right when you work with technology it becomes a lifestyle! Answering the question myself my fave technology is Oki for printers, HP for PCs, Apple -my iphone :-)

It is also so important to be able to escape from technology as well my garden, my pond sun shining and maybe a glass of pinot grecio right now aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa yes and Coral Bays beach for 2 weeks soon :-D

Custom Spec PCs for PC's, for the fact that you know you are putting in good quality parts.

 

Toshiba Laptops - Rarely had one break apart from a 5 year old one which had a few keys picked off by kids.

 

Netgear / 3Com managed smart switches - fantastic set up on them, easy to use.

 

xbox 360 gaming console - uber leet in terms of gameplay (better than PS3 everywhere apart from graphics).

 

Call of duty 4 - best software out there, I enjoy kicking arse too much!

Hardware:

 

HP for desktops, servers and infrastructure, used to only buy Toshiba for laptops but we've had quite a few issues with the VGA output recently and toshiba loosing the 3 yr warrenty details for a batch of 30 laptops and another couple of individual ones.. needless to say, i'll be switching to HP.

 

Software:

 

Currently enjoying our new Swyx VOIP phone system and VMWare ESXi - drastically reduced our physical number of servers and given us much more scope for implemeting new things!

 

Personally:

 

I like my iPhone and the best technology ever......... Aeroplanes! Gotta love those trips to Las Vegas! (or insert other fav holiday destination!)

Printers: Kyocera (Worst idea: Lexmark)

PCs: Use Dell... not great, but no bother.

Phones: Zultys. Been really good. Like like like.

Switches: HP have not done anything to offend

Mice: Microsoft's finest hour

With the obvious exception of my soft spot for Apple ( ) I don't really have any favoured brands any more. I think they pretty much all have their place and it's more a question of what is the best fit for a particular solution.

 

I had been buying Lenovo until recently but have just switched to Toshiba laptops and Acer desktops because I wanted AMD processors at a good price.

 

If we're talking about a favourite technology that "really gets me going" then it has to be virtualisation. As a technology I find it fascinating and immensely useful.

sounds good to me too also a massage leather recliner that has an on off switch that vibrates when on and a HD TV with a console like the PS3 or xbox 360 - cant beat that with yer feet up and a good game and some pop corn and a drink
