You and me both... the rest of the IT support dept is TTO + 2, I'm the only full-time tech.

I'd happily switch to full time instead of term time...it would mean getting a full time salary.

6 weeks off is great for teachers...they get paid for it...

Oh and tomorrow when we finish I will have to bite my lip every time a teachers asks me if I'm going anywhere nice for the holidays...my answer otherwise would be "No, not on my salary"

...and breathe...

Technically they don't do they? It's proportionally reduced like non-teaching staff would have if they had it stretched over 12 months?

Anyway, what am I doing sticking up for them - they have powerful unions for such things!

Full time here - feel like I could do with the 6wks off though! Still - at least we can get decent work done while there aren't any kids or staff around!

Shame Windows 7 isn't around to deploy until Oct :(

I finished for the holidays on Friday. I have to be in 2.3333333 days over the holidays (Term Time + 10 days -> but I started towards the end of the academic year!).

I've already popped in today (not as part of my scheduled days in - that's when the exam results come in) - it's brilliant being able to tinker knowing that you'll have the time to fix things if they go wrong. It's also amazing how when you have the time to fix things... they seem to work first time! That's not how the universe is meant to work.

Hope you all enjoy your holidays.

Enjoy your holiday :D going any where nice?

One of my Friday teachers askes me every week if I'm doing anything nice over the weekend - then when I explain no, running around after the kids, doing the aged P's shopping and visiting them she goes on to tell me what exciting things she will be up to - you know, weekend breaks, pop concerts and those other little perks teachers can afford!

According to our finance bod they are paid for 52 weeks.
