fafster Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 We have to provide a survey for the pupils to complete regarding how they feel about their lesson. A web-based form would probably be the most practical method, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has done something similar, and what they'd recommend.

Online survey software made easy! which does pretty much what I want. Only trouble is the payment has to be in USD and that might be tricky for us. I'm experimenting with the free version, doing a simple survey on the new Y5 intakes views on their Transfer Day.

Sooo I signed up, got the invoice generated and then handed it to the finance office and said "we need to pay this" Took them a few weeks to sort out that USD payment! 1

The standard version is very limited but the full version looks idea. Trouble with getting accounts to sort out the USD payment is that SurveyMonkey want the money upfront, so it would mean a long delay. If we do go for it I'll probably pay on my credit card and claim back. Makes the exchange rate simpler that way. I tried looking at the Limesurvey link but that just said to email John Moss for details. Found this link http://www.limesurvey.org/

tom_newton Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Used Lime a few times here - never had any real issues. AFAIK, they now have a cheap-to-free hosted service - would seem to overcome some of the barriers to entry, i'd definitely check it out if I was doing a first time survey. If the survey is in-house only, though, a VM with ubuntu+apache+lime should do nicely, and it won't be accessible outside, which might help allay any DP concerns.

Shoved Ubuntu server on an old GX260 and just installed this. Proved very sucessful recently in a survey that kids did. HTH Pete

skawarrior Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I get relevent members of staff to create a survey using word. I then use the word document to create a the survey using the form tools with Acrobat Pro 9. It can be mailed out and the responses collected in a mailbox.

rdk Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 As someone said above, use Google Docs, click new survey, all done very quickly and nicely. Results collected in a Google DOcs spreadsheet that can be exported to excel if you choose. About a 5 minute learning curve, and all free. Here's an example if you want to have a look.
