maniac Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 (edited) Then there was "Mysterious Cities of Gold" Now that was a quality show, I have the box set DVD. U often have planet rock on streaming over the net in our office, quite often get weird looks from the kids because none of them apart from a few of the musical types know any of the music on there. Had one the other day thou recognise Pink Floyd so I let him stay in the office till the end of the track! and does anyone remember knightmare, now that was brilliant! Mike. tmcd35 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 and does anyone remember knightmare, now that was brilliant! Mike. +1 for Knightmare 1
skawarrior Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Yeh I had a friend that went on it Did he spoil the magic of the show for you? I always imagined that once you got on the show it would then be ruined for you if you watched it again.
cookie_monster Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 Yeh it was somewhat dissapointing when you couldn't see all of the fantastic CGI He did say it took some of the magic out of it though.
SpuffMonkey Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I hit 50 this week and remember most of Bossman's list - so are we a similar age? Pogles Wood - a classic, and Noggin The Nog Talking of Dangermouse - went to my son's Parents' Evening this week and met one of his teachers who's nickname is Penfold - and boy - you could see why! I imagine most of the current intake have no idea who he's named after though.
maniac Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Yeh it was somewhat dissapointing when you couldn't see all of the fantastic CGI He did say it took some of the magic out of it though. It wasn't CGI thou, it pre-dated major use of computers in television, and used Chromakey very cleverly in conjunction with Airbrushed backdrops that were superimposed over the TV image to create the illusion of rooms. The only CGI in the early programs was the life indicator, and in later series they had a small amount of CGI for some other bits, but essentially it still used the same technique right up till its demise. It was waaaaay ahread of its time and I wish someone would consider reviving it using up-to-date techniques, I think it would be brilliant! Mike.
bossman Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 @SpuffMonkey: Yes we are In fact not much between us, you are a few months ahead. Some of the shows I mentioned where a little "Red Herring" to put people off the scent, but you done good, give you a "Gold Star" :)
