featured_spectre Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Whats the cost on smoothwall per year, also how many proxies can I set up for it? (IE staff, curriculum, guest).
Sylv3r Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Its not really a ball park figure we can give you. It depends if you want the software only or hardware (UTM) option. It also depends on the number of users on your network. My annual support is around about £2k per year for the UTM 1000 and 1400 users. 1
featured_spectre Posted July 5, 2009 Author Posted July 5, 2009 well looking at 350 users maximum, software AND hardware, because I am looking to set up a rack mount in my office, comprising of smoothwall, ruckus and a switch.

Probably best speaking to Smoothwall direct. They will be able to give you a quote to suit your exact needs. They may be some flexibility with you being an Edugeek user I am not sure.
john Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Give the lovely people in the Smoothwall Office they will quote you happy I am sure Mention Edugeek and I am sure they will ensure your even more looked after (but they do look after everyone anyway ) 1
tom_newton Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Thanks Guys! Don't have any education pricing to hand (am presently mooching about in starbucks near tower bridge - early for a meeting!) but Gav and his team (0113 3874168 is Gav's direct line) will be able to help you out. You can set up up to 100 different filtering groups with different privileges - depending on AD group or IP or what have you. If you have any techie style questions, try RobF (0113 3874181) or myself (but Im not in... so RF a better mark today!!) HTH, Tom

User3204 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 If you rng up (or emal) and ask, they even send out an eval unit... although now I have to wor out how to set it up. What has been amusing over the last few days here (before it arrived), is that my techs response to anything breaking recently has become "SMOOTHWALL!", by which they meant, we can fix our internet (blah, blah, blah) when the Smoothwall Guardian arrives.. ah well small things and all that.. 1
tom_newton Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 If you rng up (or emal) and ask, they even send out an eval unit... although now I have to wor out how to set it up. If you need a hand, let your salesperson know, and they will arrange for somebody to give you some pointers! Hope it all goes well for you! Tom
