You also get two free technical support calls, so far we've not needed to use them but its nice to know theres a little safety net! Well worth the money I say 1

Not only that, the renewal costs being 1/3 cheaper at the end of the 1st year also worth it. And you get everything they have done, again, big bonus! 1

I realise that I could search eBay but I'd like to be absolutely sure that the installation disks are genuine.

So it'll let you play with Windows 3.11 as well.

Managed to get a few bits of software that were interesting. Think we've just bought it here, looking forward to having a play!

There's also a version, about £500, where they post the DVD's out to you. I'd rather save money and download what I need Just need to work out how to get the £300 from by budget to M$...

Cheers Terry. I got mine through that method online from MS themselves. You print all the info, they e-mail out an invoice and you send them a cheque to Germany I believe. Could you pay on a (your) credit card and claim it back through the school? 1

Yeah, we get our Technet Subscription through Ramesys too. Works out to around less than £200 for a full 3 years. And yes, the 2 free calls are definitely worth the price alone!

Does someone have a definitive answer (maybe check the DL site that they can access or look at the folder of CDs/DVDs that they received)? Another thing - ideally, I'd like to set up a virtual domain (for learning/testing) and that would include 2 servers so I can have a DC and Member server or 2 DCs to configure AD replication. If there's only one of each server, how could I go about configuring that? Could I get additional keys? I suppose it wouldn't be legal and may contravene the MS licencing to speak nicely to someone who has a subscription to get their key (assuming it's one key per subscription)?

request another key through the interface as long as you are not using them in a production environment
Arthur Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 (edited) Synack is correct. I paid for a TechNet Plus Direct subscription myself and you don't get Windows 95, 98, ME or 2000 (Professional). Being able to download the software is a far better option since you don't have to wait until MS ship you the discs (good if you want to get Windows 7/2008 R2 RTM as soon as they're on the TechNet site), you save money and you can save all the ISOs to a portable HDD, rather than having a big and heavy binder full of DVDs. Having the ISOs is particularly useful if you are testing the software in a virtual machine. Edited June 27, 2009 by Arthur
