Hi,

I think we should have a Forum Board for Windows Server 2008 R2. More and more people are playing with the BETA and its not that far away from release. Currently posts for R2 edition are getting mixed in with current Server 2008.

This is especially important as dispite MS trying to push it has just being a minor upgrade to 2008, it is in fact quite different product, as it is built on the Windows 7 codebase rather than the vista codebase (which 2008 is)

Its not easy or best to merge / split / mix boards up as it can mess with the SEO and our Google results and rankings So fine I am not Edu-God but I don't see the need for it. It is still all Server 2008 with just some codebase updates so think it is best still in there, perhaps we need a tag option to tag them with R2 though.

Yu can tag things but its still a pain if your looking for something. Server 2008 R2 is miles different to 2008. Its not like 2003 and 2003 R2

I am suggesting this now before more posts come then you will have problems moving it all over if you make one

another option could be prefixes

They're the same kernel. 7 and Vista have the same kernel so they're as compatible as possible and R2 server versions are feature updates so don't have a different kernal either. 2003 and 2003 R2 had the same kernel and so sould 2008 and 2008 R2 (unless MS change their mind again) , they do however tend to have new features but i'm not sure enough to need a whole new board.
