Our 6th form need to use Microsoft Project next year. We hvae purchased enough to put on two rooms. What i would like to do is deploy through GPO. I know nothing about Project at all. It comes with also 2 extra discs which are SP1 and SP2. I gues i will nedd to a admin install and integrate but not really sure.

Has anyone else done this. As far as i know there is no msi.

With it being a component of the Office suite, I would be incredibly surprised if it doesn't come with an MSI of some description.

Anyway, do an admin install. To do so, just run setup.exe with the /a switch. It will ask for the key and then copy all the files to a location you specify.

Download SP2 from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=710152EF-AF64-444D-942D-1188843A8FA4&displaylang=en. Extract the contents of it by using Winrar or something similar. Inside it, there will be a MSP file. Make a note of its location.

Open a command prompt. Change to where put the admin install of project. Type in the following command: MSIEXEC /a project.msi /p . That will patch Project to SP2 and you can then deploy it via GP.

Yup, I use it as does our works department for project planning! Just going to put it in our 6form centre next year as well for them.
