tom_newton Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Online games giving you gyp? Well... never let it be said that I don't give edugeekers the first scoop on things. Screenshot here showing a *very* early development version of the promised FlashFilter (as formally announced at the edugeek conference) - as you can see our intrepid dev has grammar issues but we are making steady progress. Catch-rate is not so high at the moment, but once the software is finished, we will tweak the signatures and rules. 4
john Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 oOoOoOo looks good Tom Cannot wait for it I assume we will get it bundled in with our existing subs / boxes etc
rh91uk Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Looks good - cant wait to get our new smoothie box up and running over summer ....
Simcfc73 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Just reinstalled a new server with smoothie so if you want a guinea pig.. 1
tom_newton Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 We're a ways off guinea pigging yet, but you guys will be first on the list. And yes, of course you get it as part of your subs, what sort of wrongdoers would you take us for This is scheduled to be part of "Feature Pack 3" - due out Oct31. Should have some other new education specific stuff in there too (eg. designated teachers able to turn internet off per room or ban individual students) Tom 1

tom_newton Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 This sounds good but it needs to be ridiculously easy to use, integrate packetfence into a box too and I am there. It *should* be easy enough to use. Web interface (portal) with AD user/password. Icon for bannings, icon for rooms. Banning: box for username, with typeahead completion, dropdown for length (hour, half day, day, week IIRC). Room control: List of available rooms. Highlight of "room I am in". Enable/disable control on each one. As for packetfence... the sticking point is mysql (we run postgres on the smoothie). Will keep an eye on it though.
linkazoid Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Hi Tom, All this sounds great!! Can't wait for FP3.... I know there is a comment section when you make a temporary ban, but would it be possible to have a comment section that remembers if / why they was banned previously. Just so we can see if they have previous. Censornet had this and was previously quite handy. Michael

Michael You will like what we have post-FP3 - every config item fully revision controlled... mmmm revision.
