Is it possible to get acces to our .sch.uk emails from outsite the yhgfl network on on an external client?

We are a frog school and our frog box picks up all our emails, is there anyway we could get access to the emails in an application outside of the network?

Any ideas would be excellent!

By Frog I assume you mean the VLE? Is there any reason why the whole VLE is not accessible outside of school, I thought that was the point of them?

If you've got Frog hosted on its own server then it shouldn't be too difficult to make it accessible from outside of school.

Yes we can access it by our web address but i want to be able to load it into a program so i get alerted even when not on school site.

The trouble is the frog box works on a front facing ip address?

And we've found it impossible to break though the barrier no matter what we try in the connection settings in the email application.

Hi Damien,

You should be able to do this if you have a reverse proxy set up for it with us? If you don't you can contact your Local Authority help team and they will be able to log a request with us to do this for you.

This should allow you access to emails at home. Alternatively, you could install an exchange server.

I am not familiar with how the frog email system works, although I guess its possible you could set up a forwarder to a personal email address if that is an option on there.

Have you contacted Frogtrade to find out how things are configured?

Yes we do have a reverse proxy set up and are now looking at setting this up.

Any help from you YHGFL guys would be handy, maybe by email or PM as our local helpdesk don't seem to think its possible. As its an IMAP mail server?

Hi damien,

Any requests need to be made through your local authority helpdesk. You should be able to ask them to forward a request through to us to assist.

Marc
