vikpaw Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Does anyone know about this? Apparently in 2 months we'll have a Fulltime manager taking care of things.....
john Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Yeah - its me !!!! Just kidding..... I don't know if we could cope with that Matt
RabbieBurns Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 do they make that much money that they can afford to pay a full time salary for someone??
mattx Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I don't know if we could cope with that Matt Trust me, you would get used to me VERY quickly.........
Edu-IT Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Is this still a secret? Nobody has posted the name of the person yet but it was openly discussed in the web chat.
vikpaw Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 Should have gone to EduConf Wish i could have made it. That's where the rumours came from i guess. I think the salary wont be that high initially. I wonder if we get first refusal on shares when edugeek floats on the stock market.....
Edu-IT Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 As much as the salary is none of our business, as somebody pointed out in the chat... I think the salary wont be that high initially. As much as this person may have a drive to move the site forward and by being a full time EduGod they'll be able to do things that may never have been possible before, why would you take a considerable pay cut? There must be enough money in the pot to offer a substantial enough wage. Depends what you consider to be high I suppose.
russdev Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Go to http://conf.edugeek.net/getInvolved.html Then click the reply button. Russ
somabc Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Is this linked to the news that in the post BSF world edugeek is to be rebranded the RM BSF Educational Technologist Information Sharing Portal Database Expert System Knowledge Base, or RMBSFETISPSDEPSKB for short?
SimpleSi Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I presume there'll be an official announcement tonight when he gets home from his old job regards Simon
ICTNUT Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 With the amount of hints posted thus far if people still cannot work out who / what/ where / how / [insert your bit here] it is then I give up..... Just as my two pence worth salary really is only the business of the said person and as far as taking a pay cut that depends on how much of a cut you are willing to take but when you are running a "business" and you take a leap of faith and go it alone "sometimes" you have to make sacrifices in order to make the business succed
elsiegee40 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 My twopenn'orth... as ICTNUT says, from earlier posts, it's pretty obvious what/who etc... Good luck to DB... edugeek is his baby and it's growing faster than he could possibly have imagined when he started out. I can quite believe that having someone full time to handle things is necessary now and have absolutely no problems with that!
contink Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Good luck to DB... Ah... so really this topic should read: Rumour: Full integration of encyclopedic database with Edugeek interface pending? All to the good then Congrats DB... 1
john Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Ah... so really this topic should read: Rumour: Full integration of encyclopedic database with Edugeek interface pending? All to the good then Congrats DB... We didn't say we were buying Google or had sold out to Google
contink Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 We didn't say we were buying Google or had sold out to Google Who said anything about that small scale wannabe! ... We're talking about DB here
russdev Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 John don't tell people the master plan. When it comes to it the main reason we did it was because we wanted to make comment on things but as admins we have to tow a party line because of our work. By having someone fullltime we can have that voice more as everyone of admins as had that 'quite' word with the boss when edugeek have said something someone has not liked. Also other bit of news as we said at the conference is that we will make it limited company and we are doing this mainly so DB is protected from having to give up his pants, house and first born because when someone decided to follow through with threat of legal action. Look he already have had to cut of his hair because of a court case well ok may be that last but is not true. Russ
ICTNUT Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 "Meat Loaf may once again rise from the ashes like a Phoenix" Although I did see he was performing at the Phantom Winger the nightof the Conf, a little sideline business maybe
vikpaw Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 Look he already have had to cut of his hair because of a court case well ok may be that last but is not true.Russ If he does have to cut it off, can it be framed for posterity, and maybe auctioned off one day....
