Hi

Is there any way to import into sims.net diary from outlook preferably, but I'll take anything.

I know you can export so I am hoping there is some kind of reverse function as well.

At the moment the school calendar is done in Outlook, but it would be so handy to have it in sims.

Thanks

Phil

Only way I can think of is to use SIMS then export and import into Outlook. Don't think you can import, you might as part of SLG2, but I don't have it to try.

I did hear SIMS should be intergrating with Outlook, not heard anything more then a rumour tho.

On the Capita Support site in the User Posts / File Sharing / Download area File 280 is an import/export executable for the SIMS Calendar/ Outlook 2003.

A*se. Can't get it to work. Made by Dan Clarke, who's no longer at Capita. Anyone got a contact (his blueyonder account is dead)? Edited by vikpaw

I have used Dan Clarke's Report (well it's my own now but it originated with Dan - now there was a very knowledable SIMS user!) to export data out of the SIMS Diary, but not the reverse.

The information has to be input somewhere so a suggestion could be to start with inputting it into the SIMS Diary and then export for other uses!

We used to put everything in the SIMS diary, but it's just not flexible enough now, so it all just goes straight onto the Exchange public calendar(s).

Stopped using bulletins as well.

Everything that used to go there just lives in Exchange or our intranet.

If it ever integrated with Outlook, that would be useful, but the functions are more likely to be taken over by SLG and that should automatically take the basic data from the diary (term dates).

Sivadam, I know this is old but do you still have that Report to enable the SIMS Diary to be exported into Outlook?

Sorry Bill, but I have been retired nearly 3 years now and so do not have access anymore. I am also 3 years 'out of date', which is why I no longer normally contribute to this forum. (Tho' I sometimes still do keep glancing at what is happening!)

Just having a search for importing an Outlook OWA calendar into SIMS to see if it's possible. I guess not?

It's a shame really as loads of apps sync off the SIMS calendar, Moodle, Edulink, possibly ParentMail and the likes but we just use SIMS for the academic year set up. I don't suppose anyone has figured out how to export an Exchange/365 calendar and import it into SIMS?

Salamander Software did some work on this, I can't remember which direction it was, either SIMS to Outlook, or the reverse. Worth asking @rpwillis

Thank you kindly, I'll certainly have a look at that software and see what they say. Fingers crossed.

I know creating the academic year is quite a process so I'm not sure if exporting from OWA would require the same kind of resources/setup. That would be impossible.

The other option, which i think is possible would be to get the other apps to sync from Outlook, which is probably easier. Plus there are more features to shared calendars in outlook.
