Mounting a small comms cab

Usually we get our cabling company to fit new cabs, however we are ordering some replacements for one location ourselves, as there is no actual cabling to be done, just a swapping of patch panels and switches from old to new.

 

I'm not going to go about mounting the thing myself, no chance, caretaker should be perfectly capable of doing it safely - but is there anything we need to get in addition for him to do it?

 

Noticed a lot of our current wall mounted cabs are screwed into some wood screwed into the wall, is this the standard way of doing it?

Depends on the structure of the wall i's being bolted too, if there isn't anything solid if it's a partition wall for instance then you would need to fix some suitably solid cross braces and then mount your cab to those.

 

For a solid wall rawl bolts would be good.

I wouldn't let a caretaker go near our cabinets! Not a chance, I'd rather pay for someone to come in and install.

Dont forget they have to be earthed

One of ours I wouldnt, but one I know really well and I know hes capable of doing it

 

Will have to check the wall in question...I think its quite solid

We do most of our's in house, just make sure they are totally level other wise your doors may not open/close properly. We managed to get one out very slighty and its a pain at times!

 

Other than that I cannot think of anything else that hasnt already been mentioned.

Rawl bolts if the wall is good and solid, if its a bit iffy rawlbolt batons to the wall and then screw / bolt the cabinet to the batons.

We have put many cabinets on the walls in our building, we use the site managers tools as we dont have our own, and we actually enjoy doing it we even do our own cableing where we can now.. gives us something different to do.

 

Just made sure there actually fixed to the wall dont want them falling of now do we hehe.

 

as for fixing them, we tend to have them straight into the brick nice big screws! *no cheap ones*

Just make sure the door faces outwards!
