Excellent call by Toyota. Shame Lewis didn't do better, but considering the performance of his car, he's keeping his head and doing ok, and it looks like he's put the events of last weekend behind him. But even if this isn't his season I'm sure he's got an amazing career ahead of him, if anything another successful Brit should help push him. EDIT: Brawn planned it out well. Proves what a genius Ross Brawn is, I wonder how many championships Schmacher would have won if he'd have stayed at Beneton, or if we'd have even seen Alesi win a championship. The FIA seem to be experts at this, remember when they moved Silverstone to April and the car parks turned into a rally cross stage, only muddier.
leco Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 It was similar last week, with the light going, the sun getting lower and visibility rather poor. But Europeans still had to get up extra early to watch it live. However, I'd rather have it on the good ol' Beeb than on the other channel.

The excitement always increases 100 fold when there's a bit of rain about. this season is really interesting when you see the positives and negatives of each car from the leading teams....the redbulls were blisteringly quick on the wets, but the lack of kers left webber somewhat frustrated in his attempts to pass the kers cars on the straights. button and barrichello clearly have the best car, but the cars are so much closer that this year will be a better barometer of driver ability. Rosberg and Vettel are the drivers who currently stand out, button has been the one with the driving smarts and it could just be that his driving style suits the new and improved brawn-mercedes. A long way to go, but button could have a stonking year if the brawn can retain it's competitive advantage....i think they'll need to do something about the starts. Because, the performance gap will reduce and that makes it harder to storm back from losing three places off the grid. As for lewis, he's done alright considering the poor performance of the mclaren, and the indiscretion at the last race....it's far too early to rule him and mclaren out. Same goes for the two ferrari drivers. But button is clearly the one in the box seat for the drivers title, even if we are only two races in.

The new presenter and commentator are utter shite, and DC and Irvine constantly bickering is already starting to get a bit tiresome. Ryder and Blundell vs the bbc trio is a draw in mediocrity. BBC did well to add Lee Mckenzie, she's a bit of a fox. But f1 on the bbc as i see it adds little except for the removal of ads...itv's problem wasn't the ads but the actual scheduling of the ad breaks. F1 really belongs on a satelite/cable sports channel which would do it most justice, but its so interesting at the moment it'd be a shame to not get the viewing figures from it being on terrestrial tv. Although quite how live snooker and F1 remain on terrestrial tv while there is no live international test cricket, is a poor reflection on the terrestrial broadcasters imo.

Battery backed piece of technology that allows the driver to select different settings when necessary. Only thing is, the battery runs out, it's big and heavy so something else has to be smaller to fit it in the car. Sorry not a very technical description, I'm sure someone will pull me up on it.

Kinetic energy recovery system i presume. the power is there, it only shows as full once they have crossed the pit start/finish line. it gives them about 12 seconds of addition hp 80 I think, then once they have passed the line the battery shows as full again. they have control over how much they use during the lap, so its not the case of pres the button and thats it.

More pundits than you can shake a stick at. Just look at olympic games, tennis and football coverage. It's a shockingly blatant waste of tv tax money in most cases.. with F1, they've got the same arduously long build up to the actual race as ITV, and that seems to justify them having not one but two former f1 pros as pundits. what's wrong with a half hour build up the race ?

Did like today where got him and bunch of burley engineers fighting over back of a car... As for BBC vrs ITV to me BCC brought two things extra a decent red button service and a decent online service. Russ

Great to see another brit winning races. Hope Brawn can win the title this year, or McLaren. It will be good see both titles come to the UK.
