FWIW, everything has had a price hike - remember we buy this stuff in dollars (most of it is ultimately sourced from countries whose currency is pegged 1:1 to USD). Now that pre-bought stocks are depleted, we are seeing the effects of our once proud currency being worth somewhat less than milk bottle tops. :rolleyes:

 

Just look here: http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/ and you will see (click on any of the camera kit for price graphs) that both Nikon and Canon mysteriously got more expensive recently.

 

Ooh, feels good doesn't it :(

 

NB. Your smoothwall software is 99% "bought" in the UK by paying UK workers - only our shiny black UTMs and anti-spam subs come from foreign climes, and we are currently absorbing those costs... so our prices are falling by comparison to a global market.

I have to agree with plexer, you buy value for money not neccesarily the cheapest available.

No but when you build up a good working relationship with a supplier who is then prepared to go the extra mile for you when you need them too that's worth more than just saving a few quid on a single purchase.

Can confirm quite a few ppl seem to have in stock at lower price - just spoke to a few of our suppliers who have said they can do the £169 mark.

 

EDIT: We have already bought at least 30 of these machines and no problems on any of them. At that point, the price was stupidly low on HP Promo (which not all disti's passed on).

Chief... We're not selling these, but there WERE a March promo line from HP and normal disti price was sub £160. It's only now disti stock is short/gone that prices are shooting up on stock.

 

Supply and demand, I guess.

Whoa people.:hand: I believe some clarification may be required here! Mods advise, but IMHO I would say fine for techies and Net Mans, etc to reply and advise about prices elsewhere, but other suppliers should really follow some form of etiquette and not comment on an advertisers ads! If an invite goes out for a quote then all quote. Lets stay professional people... Edited by Nedders

I am speaking as me as I haven't had time to have a Mod-flab but I would say that users could point out that a price is rather high from a supplier as a kind way of them being pointed out but suppliers arguing with each other over pricing is not acceptable really so please do refrain from it. We really don't expect that.

Ok guys, the point I was making was its NOT acceptable for ANY supplier be they genuine or pushing warez without sponsorship to be saying were cheaper!

 

Due to this and the continuation of drift on this topic
