soveryapt Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 I was under the impression that MacKeeper was not a thing you would want to install on your Mac (in a similar way you want to remove all traces of Norton when you get a new computer because of the resources it hogs) so you can understand my surprise when I see an advert for it on here! :/ So, what is the deal with MacKeeper .. is it something to avoid on the same scale as the plague as I have thought for some time?
ZeroHour Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 Merged this post into the report bad ad's thread. I have not seen the advert myself (probably because I am on PC) but its probably seeded through adsense. If you see it again please try and capture the images url and the url it points to and I will get it blocked.
Arthur Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I was under the impression that MacKeeper was not a thing you would want to install on your Mac You definitely do not want to install MacKeeper. ZeoBit (the company who make this app) use some very underhanded tactics... themacfeed.com/2011/06/17/mackeeper-a-rather-slimy-tale/

Steve21 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 (edited) Apparently there's a few more related ones too: Know it's not exactly x-rated, but then not exactly good things to pop up in schools etc Steve Edited September 27, 2012 by Steve21

LeMarchand Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I must be very virtuous; I never get any of these "dubious" ads - most of mine atm are from Amazon, who have various graphics card that I might be interested in. (I have been researching such things!) Mind you, after reading this thread that may change... One of my schools did have a problem with a well known school site (who seem to have removed ads now): on one of the Ancient Egypt pages, the mention of "Mummies" triggered various mature/milf dating ads.

Jawloms Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 There's a problem with the Fiat 500 advert; Not exactly critical, but thought you may like to know as it's making the place look untidy.
hawc Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 This time it is Debenhams! Not really sure that it is inappropriate - over to you @ZeroHour Links to: Debenhams UK - Fashion, Beauty, Gifts, Furniture & Electricals
